Glasgow boasts more shops than any other city in the UK outside of London and is consistently voted as the top place to shop with over 1500 shops to choose from. The city centre is a magnet for shoppers and at its very heart is a unique square mile (The Style Mile) of boutiques, malls and flagship stores offering shops and brands to suit taste and budget.

The main shopping streets are made up of Sauchiehall Street to the north, Argyle Street to the south and Buchanan Street connecting the two. Sitting conveniently in between are three outstanding shopping malls: Buchanan Galleries, Prince’s Square and St. Enoch Centre, each distinctively different but each with a wealth of fantastic brands to choose from.

Discover Glasgow Restaurants ... Glasgow Restaurateur

John Quigley

The Glasgow restaurant scene is vibrant and eclectic with food and drink available to suit all tastes, cultures and pockets.

In the 30 year span of my career I have seen Glasgow Hospitality sector rise and grow from a standing start to the flourishing industry it is today. These days it’s firmly part of the city’s unique culture: whether it’s a pre theatre meal before a night at The Kings Theatre, coffee and cake while shopping or dinner in one of our new and exciting neighbourhoods.

As a former rock ‘n’ roll touring chef I was fortunate to travel the globe extensively and it is this experience that informs my cooking and Glasgow has also truly embraced the varied cuisines and the colour and flavour of the many

nationalities that now call Glasgow home, we have a rich and diverse mix of quality Asian, India, Italian, Spanish, American and African food operators to name but a few, the choice is truly global.

At Red Onion we believe in keeping it real and authentic. Established in 2004 we have endeavoured to create a restaurant environment that is warm and welcoming yet vibrant with the bustle of the city at its heart.

Like many Glasgow restaurants we serve food that people know and love, at genuine value for money, we pride ourselves in the inclusive nature of our dining experience with extensive gluten free, dairy free and vegan menus; all prepared with passion and served with love from Glasgow’s greatest asset – our people.

Glasgow’s lucky, our chefs are able to source some of the best local produce in the world, including outstanding seafood and shellfish; unbeatable game, poultry, pork, lamb and beef; Scottish soft fruit and vegetables and awardwinning dairy products. Combine this with new and talented creative restaurateurs, and you’ll understand why Glasgow’s culinary offering is imaginative, cosmopolitan, of the highest quality and always served with a smile.

So whether you’re here for shopping, a show, a conference, visiting family, business or an event, we are confident there is something to satisfy every taste.
