From January 5 Scotland moved into a level 4 with Stay at Home regulations. By law, in a level 4 area, you can leave your home (or garden) only if you have a reasonable excuse to leave your home except for an essential purpose. Although you can leave home for these purposes, you should stay as close to home as possible. Shop on-line or use local shops and services wherever you can. Travel no further than you need to reach to a safe, non-crowded place to exercise in a socially distanced way. To minimise the risk of spread of Coronavirus it is crucial that we all avoid unnecessary travel. For Latest ScotGov Covid19 Guidelines & Restrictions Click HERE

08444 932208 www.nts.org.uk Since it was built, Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s 1904 domestic masterpiece the Hill House in Helensburgh has been absorbing the rain, putting the building and its unique interiors at risk. To protect the Hill House, The National Trust for Scotland has embarked on a pioneering conservation programme. The first stage has seen the construction of the Hill House Box, a protective steel frame wrapped in the world’s largest chainmail structure, to protect the house from the rain. The semi-permanent enclosure will provide shelter to The Hill House, letting it dry out allowing further conservation work. As well as protecting the building from the weather, the ‘Box’ will give visitors the chance to get a new perspective on the Hill House from elevated walkways looping around the building, and see conservation work in action.

It has been a challenging but exciting process pulling this year’s digital festival together. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the musicians who have contributed both at home and abroad, it has been brilliant to see them all get behind the concept and support our vision. We can’t wait to bring all of this great music into people’s homes this January!

Making Connections G
LASGOW’S annual folk, roots and world music festival, Celtic Connections celebrates Celtic music and its connections to cultures across the globe. From 15 January – 2 February 2021, due to the ongoing global pandemic, the festival will be delivered digitally for the very first time. Over 100 musicians will be streamed onto screens around the world for 19 days of exclusive concerts, workshops, and free events. Celtic Connections is programmed by Creative Director (and founding member of Celtic supergroup Capercaillie) Donald Shaw, and in previous years has featured more than 300 events across multiple genres of music. The festival is renowned for its strong spirit of collaboration, bringing together one-off lineups for very special one night only collaborative shows. The festival has broadened its reach and in 2012 brought a taste of Celtic Connections to the Isle of Skye as part of the Year of Scotland’s Islands, as well as visiting Chicago as part
of Year of Creative Scotland to programme various musical performances throughout the Ryder Cup, including the Opening and Closing ceremonies along with a number of other hospitality events. In 2014, with the support of Homecoming Scotland, the festival staged a special one-off collaboration in the SSE Hydro, an exciting new large scale venue in Glasgow. This concert was part of the busiest weekend ever for Celtic Connections in which 25,000 music fans attended performances in the space of 48 hours. The festival also programmed a number of outdoor performances for Culture 2014 - the spectacular cultural celebrations surrounding Glasgow 2014. In 2015 the festival won the Art and Culture Award at the Inspiring City Awards ceremony organised by the Herald and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce in association with People Make Glasgow. The awards were created to celebrate the people and organisations that make Glasgow great.

Rarely rising above 250 metres, the route’s 55 kilometres (34 miles) can easily be walked in three to four days and with the West Highland railway line never far away, it also offers plenty of options for shorter day walks. Total ascent is approximately 1,500 metres.
Loch Lomond, the Gareloch and Loch Long are recurrent scenic backdrops along a route which charts a fascinating journey through place and time linking a necklace of coastal communities strung along the Clyde Sea Lochs fringe of Scotland’s first national park.
