AUCTION PREVIEW FALL 2016
Welcome to Doyle!
We invite you to Discover the themes of our Fall auctions: Exploration, History, Creation, Love, Philanthropy, Brilliance, the human spirit guiding us to the ends of the earth. We are honored to offer collections representing artists and interpreters of art. So much of what we love to do is to share the stories of these collections. We are extremely privileged to be offering selections from The Rare Book Library of The Explorers Club. Founded in May 1904, the organization was established “to unite explorers in the bonds of good fellowship to promote the work of exploration by every means in its power.” For more than a century, members of the Club dedicated to the ideal that it is vital to preserve the instinct to explore have traversed the earth, the seas, the skies and space on expeditions of exploration. (Explorers.org) The Thurston family bequest of their extraordinary collection of porcelains, silver and jewelry to three North Carolina organizations is a story of generosity and commitment by a caring family who valued beauty, education and medical research. (CharlotteLatin.org Med.UNC.edu/tarc UNCKidneyCenter.org) A sophisticated and stellar collection of Latin American and Contemporary Art came to us through a Los Angeles collector who discovered our new office in Beverly Hills. We are honored to be offering this collection formed through the years by collectors who had a passion for this category of art. It was a love story.
