There are two companies that serve the routes: Olympic and Aegean (tel 0801 11 20000, Greece). Corfu is also wellconnected to many European cities through charter flights. • There are as well many alternatives to reach Corfu by ship. There are many daily ferry departures from Igoumenitsa, including both the 'open' and 'closed' type of ferries. Bigger ships depart from the port of Patra with destination Italy and Corfu as an intermediate stop. You can reach the island also by car or the public bus service KTEL, offering daily departures from Athens or Thessaloniki and intermediate stations. The island..Mouse!! • A green rock, middle of the sea, is the trademark of Corfu. The legendary Mouse, at the entrance of the lagoon of Halikiopoulou is one of the sights that must be seen when found in Corfu. The Mouse is open during Easter and throughout the duration of the season with boats that start from opposite the cannon, with frequent departures throughout the day, from 9 am to 9 pm.


Achillion Corfu Achillion Corfu. Achillion built 1888 1891 by Italian architect Karntilo for Elizabeth, Empress of Austria. Located near the village of Gastouri, where formerly stood the mansion of philosopher Peter Vrailas Armenian. The structure was built in the architectural style of Pompeii, although it includes elements apoioniki, Roman and Wind technotropeia. The castle was called "Achillion" in honor of Achilles, whom the empress admired. After her death in 1898, Achillion not inhabited for nine years, until its acquisition by the German Emperor Wilhelm II in 1907.
