On Friday 05.05.2017, PADI Dive Instructor Ola Mostafa Khalaf managed to shoot magnificent photos of the White Dilapidated Dorid Nudibranch (Goniobranchus obsoletus Rüppell & Leuckart, 1831) from the Inchcape 10 diving site, 24 meter deep in the Sea of Fujairah, Gulf of Oman, Arab Sea, Indian Ocean.

Goniobranchus obsoletus is a species of colourful sea slug, a dorid nudibranch, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Chromodorididae (Wikipedia). Description Goniobranchus obsoletus is a chromodorid nudibranch with a mostly white mantle and an orange mantle edge. There is an irregular band of blue-black just inside the orange margin and the mantle is rugose with an orange-brown reticulation between the raised pustules. The rhinophores and gills are translucent brown with white markings (Wikipedia). Distribution This species was described from the Red Sea (Wikipedia). It has also been reported from the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. Etymology Gonio: Greek ‘Gonia’, angle (Wiktionnaire). ‘Brankhia’ in Greek gills (Reef Resident).
