Get to Know Drug Addiction

Today, illicit drug usage has become a common happening that more and more people get entrapped into this abuse. Unless tackled it’s harmful to all.

How people fall prey to illicit drugs? Often people encounter situations when they have to take part in recreational activities. They take these substances once and feel the thrill and the activity continues. Some other individuals access illicit drugs and consume them. However the people that are habituated to taking drugs will encounter problems persistently, these places include workplace, schools, home and they also spend time alone.

What are drug use, abuse, and addiction? Curious about drugs, some people experiment with consuming them. They do this kind of things for reasons such as friend/peer’s influence, to stay thrilled by consuming them. If you just use the substance for therapeutic value it is equivalent using it.

They often make recourse to such measures as consuming drugs because of stress, depression, and peer pressure, failure in job venture and for other reasons. Despite the three drug abuse terminology look same, they are distinct. Of course, we’d explain them here briefly.

Addiction Addiction is a chronic condition and worsens into brain disease, which results in compulsive behavior of using regardless of the harmful consequences. It is a disease. Abuse is compulsive - too much consumption of leads in turn to excess dependence on the substance.

Effect on the brain Drugs are chemicals that influence the brain by affect the function of the communication system and affecting the way the nerve cells (neurons) send, receive and process a piece of information.

A few such as marijuana and heroin can stimulate the nerve cells. This is because of the chemical structure, which works like a natural neurotransmitter. This similar structure prevents the action of the nerve cell in the brain. The function in a similar way as the natural neurotransmitters and they lead to different message transmitted through the network.

Drugs of abuse affect the brains reward system by sending it dopamine - a neurotransmitter that is present in parts of the movement that are associated with movement, motivation, and feeling of pleasure. Normal stimulation leads to natural behavior. However, over-stimulating using drugs leads to excess pleasure effect.

Drug addiction is termed a brain disease because it changes the function of the brain – it changes the pattern and how it workers. These effects on the brain are likely to be there for many years to come and can lead to many dangerous behavior.

When the person becomes a drug addict, the substance assumes as much as importance as food and water do. Addiction impacts badly the cognitive ability of the brain that is faculty to think clearly, lack of god judgment, cannot tolerate without the substances.
