• Using words that are uniquely Spanish
This category of words has two key rules that fall under it. Adhering to the rules laid out below will help you master the pronunciation of words that follow into this group. • The first rule holds no specific format or outline in particular. These words do not sound identical to their English synonyms nor do they follow a pattern in particular. They however are quite famously recognized for their native Spanish accent; and hence, are difficult to stay unnoticed or unheard of. Here is a list of words that we’re sure, will sound familiar as soon as you pronounce them.

Chapter 3
• Using words that are distinctively different In comparison to the English language; one of the biggest differences in the Spanish vocabulary is that their words are pronounced as they are spelt and written. So, while the English language might have varied rules that alter the way a word is pronounced and used, Spanish is in contrast, remarkably simple and direct. This makes the attempt to learn the language fairly easy and convenient. While we have already noted the differences, let us now look at some of the Spanish words that are strikingly similar to their English counterparts. These words construe identical meanings but are however, pronounced slightly different. This category consists of three specific rules. •
The first rule, also known as the “ible” or “able” rule focuses on pronouncing words that end with “ible” or “able”.
While a few of the Spanish words that fall under this rule might be differently spelt from their English synonyms, do not forget that the Spanish words are pronounced exactly how they are spelt, making them sound immediately different from their English counterparts. The below list of words reiterate the significance of this rule in particular.

The second rule is also referred to as the ‘OR’ rule.
Notice closely and you’ll realise that English words that refer to people and their professions end with ‘or’. Similarly, Spanish words too, follow the same rule with or without variations in their spellings. The English words can be easily translated to Spanish by altering double letters to single letters such as ‘th’ to ‘t’ and ‘ph’ to’ f’.

Using words that end with ‘cion’
The Spaniards are known to aspirate English words ending with ‘tion’ as ‘cion’. Now, this is so, because they spell these words exactly the way they pronounce them. Let us look at some of the words that fall into this category. Do make a mental note that these words have to end with an aspirated ‘cion’ sound.

Chapter 5 •
Using words with accentuated sounds
This category of words is further divided into three specific rules. Each rule stresses on a specific accent and syllable stress. •
The first rule is quite similar to the previous rule in terms of its pronunciation.
However, it is spelt entirely different, and when observed closely has a slight difference in its pronunciation too. It is therefore important that you do not get confused between the two rules and pay enough attention to getting the accent and articulation right. This rule has English words ending with ‘sion’ spelt exactly similar in Spanish. However, the Spanish words requires you to accentuate the syllable ‘O’ in the word as listed in the below set of words.
