DRAM AWARDS
Hilton Glasgow // 11th August 2015
We are a £lmillion State of the art training facility housed within the famous Tennent’s Wellpark Brewery. Our courses are accredited by leading awarding bodies and recognised across the UK. We offer fun, modern and hands-on training techniques delivered face to face by industry experts who all have practical experience in the classes they are leading. Since opening our doors a little over 4 years ago we have trained over 17,000 individuals in the art of hospitality and have worked with a range of businesses from 5* hotels and visitor attractions to your local pub on the corner in Glasgow and throughout Scotland. We offer a variety of courses from compliance courses such as essential First Aid qualifications, Scottish Personal License Holder and Refresher awards through to practical led courses for Professional Bartenders and Professional Cookery. Our business has enjoyed rapid expansion and we now also give back to the community through our back to work service helping long term unemployed candidates who are seeking to move into the hospitality industry.

the
Welcome to the 2015 Scottish Bar and Pub Awards. We promise a night to remember for all our guests. As many of you know, for the past 19 years we have been running this event under the DRAM banner, but in our 20th year we decided to refresh the awards. Today the trade is almost unrecognisable from where it was in 1995. Therefore it seemed appropriate to move with the times, and join the digital age. This year customers were able to nominate their favourite pubs in every category. Until now that was restricted to Sunday Mail Pub of the Year. The bars and pubs that received the most nominations were visited by mystery shoppers who were age-appropriate for the category. Of course Jock the dug also participated! The top four nominated, and judged, pubs and bars, are in the running for awards tonight.

DRAM AWARDS
Every year we honour someone with a Lifetime Achievement award, we also have an extra award for Entrepreneur of the Year, and this year we are launching the Scottish Licensed Trade Hall of Fame. Five individuals will be recognised this year. Finally we are also applauding suppliers to the trade with four awards. These awards will be presented after dinner. An event like this would not be possible without the support of our sponsors: - Benromach, BII Scotland, Diageo, Glencairn Crystal, Kopparberg, Made Brave, Mixxit, Molson Coors, Parlez, Tennent’s, the Wee DRAM and the Sunday Mail. This year Harry Hood of Lisini, has been asked to front the fundraising for the new Beatson centre at Monklands Hospital opening late November. So to support him with the task all the funds raised tonight will go to the Beatson Cancer Charity. Please take the time to put some cash in the envelopes on the table. Enjoy the evening. Good luck to our our finalists. I hope you have a most enjoyable evening. Susan Young Editor
