01 DIVERSITY
TYPE: MIXED-USE / LIVE WORK YEAR: 301 SEMESTER FALL 2015
The Kona “Diversity” is located on Mckinley Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. The strip is known to be used for it’s high traffic of student travel to the campus of University of Louisiana at Lafayette. This project was an approach to find a solution to provide more benefits to the community. The area was once similar to Jefferson Street Downtown are and now it hast lost that feeling. The Kona Urban Infill project addresses this issue with programming such as a restaurant, art gallery, office, and residential space. Through this project I was able to explore the exterior skins, mechanical, electrical, and building code issues. Left: Exterior Rendering. Right: Perspective Exterior Rendering. 02 JEFFERSON MONTESSORI TYPE: EDUCATIONAL
YEAR: 302 SEMESTER SPRING 2016
The Jefferson Montessori is located also on the Mckinley Street strip in Lafayette, Louisiana. The purpose was to propose a solution for the area’s future urban development to provide schools as well. My project concept came from the montessori way of teaching. The engaging and interacting factors play a part in the design of the project from space planning to facade design as well. The exploration of site, exterior skin, and design was through media from hand sketch through to 3D Modeling. Left: Exterior Rendering. Right: Perspective Exterior Rendering. Above: Sketch of Exterior Rendering.

03 ADAPT
TYPE: HOSPITALITY
YEAR: 409 SEMESTER FALL 2016
The Johnston Hotel also named “Adapt is part of the I-49 Lafayette Connector project. The Community Design Workshop mission was to assist rebuiliding of downtown areas and to envion future beneficial potential to give back to the communities. The hands-on experience of this project really helped understand the state, and local codes that must be followed for a project. In short, the design concept was drawn from mimicking existing surrounding activities of my site. As well using my site as a bridge to connect to connect the I-49 Corridor Development. The program solves the issue with a hotel, retail, community garden, and convenience store.

06ANNETTE STREET HOUSE TYPE: RESIDENTIAL FIRM: PEREZ, APC
CLIENT: NEWCORP INC. ROLE: DESIGNER, ARCHITECT The project is newly constructed homes offered by Owner NewCorp, and Developer Jericho Road Episcopal Housing with Perez, APC being the Architect. My mission was to design two different houses for two different lots on Annette Street in the Seventh Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. The design of the houses both met Energy Star Version 3 requirements, with advanced framing techniques. All the way from schematic to construction documents phases, I kept in mind the client’s wishes. The sets were completed for permit and now are in construction.

07 FIRESTATION NO. 12 TYPE: COMMERCIAL FIRM: PEREZ, APC
CLIENT: JEFFERSON PARISH FIRE DEPARTMENT ROLE: DRAFTER The project is a newly constructed firestation for the Jefferson Parish Fire Department. I worked on this under the supervision of a Senior Architect. The project helped me understand the technical details and real life dimensions of actual building components. While working under a Senior Architect I efficiently executed redlines and developed the Design Development set to Permit Set.
08 BREC - RECREATION CENTER TYPE: RECREATIONAL FIRM: PEREZ, APC CLIENT: BREC ROLE: DESIGNER, DRAFTER BREC, an agency in Baton Rouge known for connecting people with parks and nature, are the client to this project. Along with the Boys and Girls Club of America the client wishes for a new design to their facilities in the Howell Community Park. The new program will consist of a new recreation center, gynmasium, bath-house, and pool with determining the location of the Boys and Girls Club facility. The design needs are to ensure that there is a campus style feel, create controlled access points overseen by staff, and create direct adjacencies for “shared spaces. While working on this project with a team I gained knowledge of designing an actual new facility hands with massing studies, hand sketching, and site studies. I also managed the physical samples of the project and made sure we kept in mind to not use materials that will allow flooding of the new facilities.
