FLIGHT RISK

A Story of Unlikely Friendship

As lead-up to Remembrance Day, and inspired by the astonishing true story of a World War II veteran, Flight Risk is a humorous and profound story of finding exactly who you need in life – when you least expect it.

99-year-old Hank Dunfield is found wandering aimlessly through a field in the early hours of the morning, five kilometres away from his residence at Ponderosa Pine Lodge. Just six weeks shy of his 100th birthday, the lodge recruits Sarah, a nursing student, to help keep Hank safe, comfortable, and in the building while they plan a grand centenarian celebration. There’s just one problem … Hank doesn’t want to live that long.

Bonding over a model Lancaster bomber, and a mutual love of good coffee, an unexpected friendship slowly develops between a tired man at the end of his journey and a young woman just beginning hers. Directed by Alex Mustakas

They came together to make music. They ended up making rock ‘n’ roll history. Million Dollar Quartet is the hit musical inspired by the legendary 1956 recording session at Sun Records in Memphis. MISERY

A Nail-Biting Thriller

Recommended for ages 14 and up.

ON STAGE

Based on the acclaimed novel by Stephen King, Misery is a relentless spine-tingling thriller that moves faster than the snow piling up in a Colorado blizzard.

Successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon is rescued from a wintry car crash by his ‘Number One Fan’ Annie Wilkes, a seemingly kind nurse. While he convalesces in her secluded home, events take a nightmarish turn after Annie reads his latest book and discovers the author killed off her favourite character. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel, and he quickly realizes that she has no intention of letting him leave. The irate and unhinged Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it … because it does.

A wonderfully dark and caustic examination of celebrity, creativity, and the impact that fictional characters can have on real people, Misery is a nail-biting game of cat-and-mouse that will have you at the edge of your seat right up until its inherently suspenseful and indelibly memorable ending.

OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS

A Multi-Generational Comedy

Recommended for ages 10 and up.

The ties that bind – and sometimes choke – are explored with uproarious results in this heartwarming comedy about growing up and growing old. The generation gap is affectionately portrayed through the eyes of four Italian-American immigrants who reside over the life of their grandson, Nick Cristano, with loving manipulation. When Nick decides to cut his family ties and move away to pursue his career, the aging grandparents hatch an offbeat scheme to stop their beloved grandson from leaving –with side-splitting results.

A fun-filled journey with hilarious twists leads Nick to the realization that his grandparents have much more to dish out, in the way of advice, than hearty meals. Family is truly the centre –the very heart of life – and this memorable production will speak to all generations of theatregoers.
