Dr. Ticho combines in-depth ocular anatomy knowledge with skill and over 25 years of experience in providing surgical care to patients suffering from strabismus, cataracts, glaucoma, ptosis, dermatochalasis, and tear duct obstructions. His nonsurgical expertise includes treatment of refractive errors, amblyopia, ocular infections, diabetic retinopathy, and retinopathy of prematurity. He is particularly interested in providing eye care to patients with genetic disorders, Down syndrome, autism, learning disabilities, and other forms of special needs. Ben Ticho received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. After that, he completed an integrated surgical-medical internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle and an ophthalmology residency at The University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. Following his residency, Dr. Ticho pursued fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital and adult strabismus at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
