Eluster Wicks and Louise Wicks family Tree

Family Tribute

While my maternal grandparents provided an example of business and education, my paternal grandparents provided the same type of nurturing. Eluster Wicks, Sr. was a carpenter, barber, and metal worker by trade, but an educator at heart. Eluster’s wife, Louise was a housewife, farmer, and educator at heart

I know that I received countless reprimands and corrections along the way, and for that, I am eternally grateful. More importantly, their success and dedication to providing for their families provided me with lessons that I have only recently come to fully appreciate This manuscript will attempt to articulate their lessons in seven recommendations to our children

Lessons Learned

Great Grandma Mammy - staying out of trouble

Granddaddy Adam Amos - never met, but admired his business savvy

Mommul - Lucinda Amos - Recycling and re-purposing, eating local sugar cane, peas, chicken eggs

Grandmamma Louise Wicks - Farming, Guinea fowl, chickens, and smokehouse meat

Granddaddy Eluster Wicks - Math, analytics, love of numbers, hard work, hunting

James Wicks - Education, commitment to the community, hunting and fishing

Earnestine Wicks - Education, patience, quiet strength, the beauty of the small things
