07 July 2020 COVID-19 CASE & PROTOCOL FOLLOWED –grade 11 return to school Dear Parent / Guardian I hope you and your families are continuing to stay well. It has been brought to our attention that a second grade 11 learner has been tested positive for the COVID -19 virus. As a precautionary measure, we encourage the grade 11 leaners to remain at home and only return to school on Monday,13th July. Grades 8,9,10 and 12 are to resume schooling from tomorrow. By Monday the 13th of July, the grade 11 learners would have thus cleared the 7-day period required for a contact to monitor any symptoms etc. The grade has been instructed that should anyone experience any symptoms or raised temperatures they are to remain at home and follow the necessary medical protocols with their doctors and testing if necessary. The case has been reported to and discussed with the Health Department. The points discussed with the Health Department were as follows: ● The grades are separated from one another at break times. ● The school undergoes cleaning and sanitisation by the cleaning staff twice a day. ● Staff further spray and wipe down desks and surfaces between lessons. 1
● Learners are met at the classroom at the start of each lesson and hands are sanitised during single-file entry. ● Strict mask-wearing and social distancing protocols are in place and policed. ● The case is classified as a low-level risk due to the points above. Lessons for the grade 11 leaners will continue via WhatsApp or Zoom. We thank you for your cooperation as we together strive for a safe environment for our children.
