Hickory(Street/Forest(Park!DREAM&Quarterly&Report! June – August 2015 Greetings from DREAM! This quarter, youth were provided with a trusty DREAM staff member to provide fun, enriching activities. The group had an exciting culminating event and an overall very successful summer! Youth look forward to starting back up in the fall with their mentors on campus! Highlights from the quarter include: • We welcomed AmeriCorps State/National Vermont Youth Development Corps member Kelsea Moulton of University of Vermont who ran the summer programming! She has spent this quarter getting to know all the families and youth! • Hickory Street’s summer started off right with a Pizza Party Kick-off event! Three new families attended and had a great time with an icebreaker and playing ice cream! • This quarter, Vermont Symphony Orchestra offered free tickets to the “Spellbound” summer concert series. Youth listened to the band play old classics as well as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings soundtracks! The show was followed up with an amazing finale of fireworks in the sky while the orchestra played! • Hickory Street came together with Poultney for a trip to Buttermilk Falls, a waterfall and swimming hole in Ludlow, VT. They splashed around and even found some fish in the water! • Hickory Street joined Poultney and Willowbrook programs for a trip to the park where they played games and took a dip in a stream! • Youth from Hickory Street had a culminating trip to Burlington where they had lunch, went to the aquarium, and got Ben and Jerry’s ice cream on Church Street! It was one youth’s first time to Burlington, a time he will not soon forget!

library’s summer reading program where they can report on their progress for a chance to win prizes! Upon return from the library, DREAM was excited to welcome three new families at a community pizza party kick-off! Youth and adults alike became acquainted with name games and icebreakers. The group had a nature walk scavenger hunt. After collecting all of the items, the nature was used to create beautiful masks! They had also made cheerio bird feeders and ooblek! The group took a trip to the movies to see Paddington. Afterwards, they migrated over to the library where they participated in a lego challenge! They were able to put their creations on display for all to see! After a fun day of programming, the group attended a Vermont Symphony Orchestra concert. After listening to the classical rhythms, youth and leaders alike enjoyed a firework show! One week, Hickory Street youth joined with Poultney to bake for a bake sale. The group made $103.00 selling the goods, enough for a culminating trip to Burlington!
