Our story The story of Sika-Design begins in 1942 when my grandfather Ankjær Andreasen produced the first batch of baskets, lamps, flower tables and other smaller interior items made of rush and willow. In the 1950’ties he expanded his production to include a series of furniture made from rattan, and the company Sika Møbler was firmly established. The rattan was imported from the Far East and my grandfather travelled there to buy rattan for his wicker makers in Denmark. During a trip in 1972, he decided to establish a wicker furniture factory in Malaysia. Since then, the Far East has been essential to our production of furniture, and today we manufacture our furniture in our own factory in Indonesia. My father Knud Andreasen took over the company in 1983, however my grandfather still continued his daily “inspection” rounds in the company until his death in 1997. In 2001 Sika acquired its biggest competitor in rattan furniture “Møbelfabrikken Horsnæs est. 1940” and today the company name is Sika-Design. On my 10th birthday, my father allowed me to attend a fair where Sika Møbler was exhibiting a series of furniture. On that day, I knew I wanted to be a part of his company, and my passion for rattan furniture was started. Since 1996 we have worked side-by-side bringing Sika-Design into the new century, while never letting go of our strong heritage and values of good craftsmanship and design. About rAttAn For the collection Classic, only first class rattan is used. Rattan is a plant related to the palm tree, and grows in the Indonesian jungle. Rattan is one of the fastest growing materials, it regenerates in 5-7 years and it transforms CO2 into clean air. 80 % of the World’s rattan is growing in Indonesia where we manufacture the furniture in our own factory. All production is handmade by our skilled workers and do not require heavy machinery. Rattan is a very strong and durable material, and the furniture can last for many years. About sikA design loom Lloyd Loom is the name of a unique braided material, which consists of a steel wire wound in kfraft paper. The production itself is a very unique process, which dates from 1917, where the American Marschall B. Lloyd got the patent for this process. In 1922 the English company “Lusty Lloyd Loom” got the license for the manufacturing in Europe, since then the company has designed most of the classic “wicker chair models”, which are still available on the market. We carry some of the classic Lloyd Loom models in our range of products, and we are so excited with the elegance of the material, that we have developed and expanded the collection with a series of our own models.

Our high-quality upholstery and seat cushions are produced in our own production facilities. We also handle upholstery of your own choice. Upholstery is also available by the meter. Unsere hochwertigen Polster und Sitzkissen werden in eigener Fertigung mit Bez체gen aus unserer internationalen Stofkollektion versehen. Wir verarbeiten auch gerne einen Fremdstoff Ihrer Wahl. Stoffe sind auch als Meterware lieferbar.

Glass table tops are made of tempered glass often called safety glass. Glasplatten sind aus geh채rtetem Glas, oft auch Sicherheitsglas genannt.

Wood table tops are made of solid rubber wood and are available in the colours Natural and Honey. Holzplatten sind aus massivem Gummibaum und sind in den Farben Natur und Honig verf체gbar.
