Navy Pier Located at Lake Michigan
Navy Pier first opened in 1916. Navy Pier was originally designed for shipping purposes. The overall construction of Navy Pier was $4.5 million. Until 1995 Navy Pier was reborn to year round entertainment of over 8 million visitors per year. This is one of the most well known places maybe because it has many attractions. It is fun for all ages. This includes 50 acres of parks, gardens, shops, restaurant, boats, and even theater. Navy Pier displays a show of fireworks starting Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend all Wednesdays and Saturdays There are also many restaurants so you can dine in. Millennium Park offers something for all music lovers, starting with concerts by the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus to the Made in Chicago, which are the World Class Jazz series featuring Chicago’s jazz greats to the Music Without Borders series. New this year is two series on Monday nights Downtown Sound and New Music Mondays and Dusk Variations, A Chamber Series. The eclectic series, Audible Edible Picnic, rounds out the new programming during the lunch hour on Mondays. There are so many things with music that will satisfy all ages, even if you are not a music lover. Stop by and enjoy.
Randolph St. & Michigan Avenue
The construction for Grant Park began in 1917. The park is 24.5 acres. In those acres there are many activities that happen there like concerts, family fun festivals, and a lot of music. Millennium Park opened since 2004 and millions of people have visited it making it one of Chicago’s most visited places. “The Shinny Bean” is one of the most attractive things from the Millennium Park. It weights 110 tons and it is 66 ft long and 33 ft high. Because of its shinny look most people most people love to take pictures from

all the angels possible. This is one fun bean to photograph. It also has an ice rink that is open from November 12 to March 15 this is if the weather allows it. Skating is free, rental is $10. This park also has some of the city’s most famous projects. It consists of many features like the Jay Pritzker Pavillion where there is over 4,000 fixed seats plus lawn seating. There is also the crown fountain. This is a transparent 50 ft tall tower of bricks. Then we have the Lurie Garden this garden has perennials, bulbs, grasses, shrubs,
and trees. Then we have the BP Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge crosses Columbus Drive and it connects to the Daley Bicentennial Plaza also located in the park. Then there is theWrigley Square it is a public square located in the northwest section of the park. Then there is the Harris Theater for the performing arts. The Exelon Pavilions are a set of four solar energy structures. Then there is the McDonald’s Cycle Center it is a 300 space heated or air conditioned indoor bicycle parking space. Magnificent Mile Feel magnificent on Michigan Avenue A
ll the best shopping store big names are at the magnificent mile, from Disney Store and Niketown to Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue. The wide sidewalks, are often well taken care of and maintaned with flowerbeds which are always crowded. The areas around the Magnificent Mile are some of Chicago’s most famous shopping centers. It is a mile to walk for all people and ages. Michigan Avenue is known for the Magnificent Mile. Take a walk down the magnificent mile, which are many full blocks to explore. There is over 400 hundred stores. There is also fine dinning at over 200 restaurants, there is also over 50 hotels. You can experience Michigan Ave by foot or by trolley. One of the most important places in the magnificent mile is the water tower and the John Hancock center which includes which has a beautiful Signature room where you can enjoy a great cocktail. There is also the Water Tower this is another great place to visit because it has many stores inside.

Not only is the magnificent mile full of stores but it also has beautiful things like the “Gardens at Magnificent Mile” the streets are filled with nice flowers same of which include tulips. There are

also many sculptures designed by international architects that are placed in the garden beds. The Magnificent Mile celebrates with the environment all summer long with a summer concert series among beautiful blooming gardens. Green themed special offers are found in area retailers, hotels, restaurants and spas. This dates from June thru September 2009 it is Free and Open to the Public.
Transportation
There is many ways to get around the mile. North Michigan Avenue is a six lane, two way street that is serviced by Chicago Transit. There is also public buses along the Magnificent Mile that connect the area to the entire Chicago metropolitan area. This is convenient go get around and do more shopping and to visit other places as well. The mile is also serviced by seasonal trolley service along the street, and the foot of the Magnificent Mile is serviced by seasonal water transit services. Two blocks west along State Street, the Chicago train is a rapid transit services the via train has its Red Line. Pedestrian traffic abounds along the sidewalks that which are shielded by mature greenery that provides much of the friendly atmosphere.
This makes it great for all people to enjoy the mile and travel thru it with many of the services available.

There are many luxurious hotels, in which yo can stay and relax for an afternoon. All three of the 5-star hotels located in the midwest The Peninsula Chicago, Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, and Ritz-Carlton Chicago and Illinois’ only 4-star hotel Park Hyatt are located within about five blocks along the Magnificent Mile.
