One reason the Institute of Atrt & Design at Robert Morris University is so exciting is the numerous opportunuites to display work. Students from all Art & Design programs have the opportunity to show off their talents in various disciplines from the very beginning of their education. The Institute of Art & Desisn programs emphasize the experiential nature of design through project-based learning and through internship experiences with cultural institutions and business. The ability to communicate complex ideas in a variety of formats and mediums is a vital neccassary skill for a successful career. These skills are developed as students compile a portfolio.

“I strongly believe that there can be no substitute for impeccable technique, artistic intent, and creative problem solving in the arts. This said, one of the most gratifying parts of being an art intructor at the college level comes from the relationships that I build with my students as the develop passion for their field of study that will enrich their lives.” Carolyn Pavelkis

Robert Morris University’s ICenter allows students to work as consultants with real clients in an authentic work environment, all while earning “Integration Level” credentials, credit towards their degree and valuable work experience. In ICenter Projects, students can take initiative, make decisions and be accountable for results in a creative and supportive environment while working on projects that pertain to their professional goals. The ICenter is an institutional division at RMU, encompassing all campuses and all Schools of Study. Students from several different campuses and programs may work on the same ICenter Project. In fact, that’s encouraged. An ideal ICenter Project is multi-layered and involves multiple disciplines.
