Transform Your Smile With A Smile Makeover

Since our smile is one of the first things people notice about us, everyone wants to have an attractive bright smile. A healthy smile can often be an indication of one's overall health and wellbeing; however, sometimes our smile is affected by problems such as discolored or stained teeth, chipped teeth, or crooked teeth. Some smiles are even adversely affected by head, neck and jaw pain due to Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD). These imperfections may make us self-conscious and hesitant to flash those not-so-pearly whites. Fortunately for us, some highly trained cosmetic dentists are able to perform what are called "smile makeovers" to restore chipped, cracked or discolored teeth; restore your bite; and return facial muscles to their natural position. Do I need a Smile Makeover? A smile makeover actually refers to any combination of cosmetic dental procedures that enhances the beauty and appearance of your smile. Smile makeovers can correct any one of the problems below: · Stained, discolored teeth can be whitened · Missing teeth can be replaced · Crooked teeth can be straightened · Gaps between teeth can be closed · Chipped, broken teeth can be repaired

These are cosmetic dental procedures that allow the dentist to dramatically change the length, width, color and shape of your teeth. The Process Once you and your dentist determine the style of smile you desire, an impression of your teeth will be taken in the office. The impression is then sent to a laboratory with precise instructions of what your smile should look like. The lab creates a model of your future smile, showing how your repaired teeth will look. Once the model is approved, the dentist prepares your teeth, takes a new impression, and fits you with temporaries (a temporary version of your new smile). When the permanent restorations are ready after approximately three to four weeks, your temporaries will be removed, and your made-over smile will be put in place. Recovery time will be discussed with you at your dentist's office, but recovery is typically the same as with any other dental procedure. Your gums may be tender for a couple of days following the bonding of veneers to your teeth. Your dentist will probably suggest an over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen to easy any mild discomfort you experience. Complications with a smile makeover are practically non-existent.
