The Droughtmaster National Bull Sale was one to remember in the year of the breed’s 60th Anniversary. It started with Drinks with Droughtie’s on the evening before the sale which was very well attended. The evening was catered for by Brisbane Valley Protein and included several guest speakers, reflections on the breed’s history and the annual NextGen Auction.
The two days of selling attracted many buyers, including a large number of buyers and viewers online via Stocklive. The sale achieved record results across the board with 439 bulls offered for 402 sold, a gross of $7,002,000, an average of $17,418, a top price of $220,000 and a clearance of 91%. A few key highlights from this sale include, there were 45 new buyers injecting 980,500 into this sale bulk buyers (purchasing more than 1 bull) bought 312 bulls. There was also plenty of value to be had with 182 bulls selling to $10,000 and with $20,000 80% of bulls on offer could have been purchased.
