Important Labs for Balancing Blood Sugar that we speak about in the video.

• Fasting Glucose: Tells us about your day to day blood sugar balance

• Fasting Insulin: Often times an earlier marker of blood sugar abnormalities

• HgA1C: 90-ish day measure of blood sugar

The following markers should be considered for proper cardiovascular functioning. Apolipoprotein B (Apo B for short) is the most important!

• Lipid panel plus ApoLipoprotein B: (This marker is not commonly run, but recent studies show that it is the most accurate cholesterol marker for predicting vascular disease.

• CMP-14: to evaluate kidney and liver function.

• Blood pressure evaluation

• Homocysteine levels: high levels are correlated with cardiac problems and also indicate deficiencies in B12, folate and/or B6.

• Since blood sugar dysregulation is often related to cardiac problems, it is worth asking to run the tests that were talked about in the blood sugar section.

Video 4: Exposing the Secrets: Toxins, Fasting and Your Libido

Detoxification and The Lymphatic System:

The lymphatic system is part of our body that works extra hard to remove toxins. The lymphatic system will collect toxins from all over our body and bring them to the liver to help break them down. When we have a large amount of toxic accumulation, the lymphatic system can become congested. If this happens, we may experience a difficulty of toxins from being removed. This can contribute to low libido. In addition, other common symptoms that occur when our lymphatic system is not working as well include brain fog, fatigue, skin eruptions, headaches, migraines, and digestive dysfunction.

We can support our body’s detoxification system through filtering our water and eating organic foods as much as possible. Epsom salt baths, dry skin brushing, far infrared saunas and detox foot baths all support the body’s natural detoxification processes. Please note that the helpful app that we talk about in the video to support identification of toxins that may be hidden in your home products is: Yuka.

Some people do extreme fasting as a way of encouraging the body’s detoxification process. We tend to find that this is too extreme for many people. Intermittent fasting (17 hours between dinner and your next meal) encourages detox and is much easier for people to achieve. If you have never intermittent fasted, we recommend starting by fasting for 13 hours and slowly increase the time between meals. If you have thyroid disorders please proceed cautiously and monitor thyroid values as fasting can sometimes worsen thyroid conditions, which we see most commonly in women.

In addition, there are certain supplements that can really encourage your body’s detoxification and elimination process. These can be accessed below. Make sure if you are doing any sort of detoxification with the use of supplements, you are only proceeding if you have bowel

movements daily. Toxins are largely eliminated through our bowels (also through our skin, urine and breath). If you are constipated and try to do the detoxification supplements, this may make you feel badly.

Video 5: Gut Health, Fasting and Your Libido:

As we talk about in the video, imbalances in the gut can lead to inflammation as well as imbalances in the hormonal cycle. Even if you do not have any gut symptoms, you may still have imbalances there that can lead to low libido. Remember that the body is very connected. Therefore, a problem in the gut sometimes manifests as a symptom somewhere else!

Important Labs for Gut Health

• SIBO: Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth Test: Make sure you do the 3-hour lactulose Breath Test. You can get this on Direct Labs.

• Gut Stool Culture: GI Effects: Gut Pathogen Profile. You can also get this on Direct Labs.

• Infinite Labs Food Reactivity. This is our best recommendation for food reactivity testing. This is not available by Direct Labs so this will need to come from your doctor.

Video 6: Fasting, Hormones and Your Libido:

Hormone balance is obviously extremely important for libido health. However, often, the hormones that are tested for do not show a complete picture. Consider all of the following important labs for hormone testing.

• Estrogen - Helps with sex drive and vaginal lubrication. Make sure to test for the three types of estrogen including Estrone, Estradiol and Estriol. Also make sure to test for 2,4 and 16 OH.

• DHEAs - (notice the “s”)- precursor hormone to estrogen and testosterone, also associated with anti-aging properties.

• Progesterone - needed for healthy sex drive.

• Total Testosterone - the total amount of testosterone that your body is making.

• Free Testosterone - the amount of testosterone that is available for your cells to use.

• Insulin - early blood sugar marker as blood sugar effect hormones. (Make sure to do this one after fasting on just water for 12 hours. This means no coffee or tea!)

• Thyroid: TSH, Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3 and thyroid antibodies

Video 7: Sleep, Lifestyle, Fasting and Your Libido

In our libido doctor programs we go through how sleep is related to a healthy libido. Sleep research shows us that when women get longer sleep not only do they have more desire, but their genital arousal also improves. It is also noteworthy, that even if you think you are sleeping throughout the night, you may not be getting deep sleep. Sleep tracking devices such as the oura ring can help to provide data to let you know proper sleep levels.

Labs for sleep: If you are concerned about sleep, it is worth talking to your doctor about a nocturnal oximetry test as well as a full sleep function test. If you cannot get this done by your doctor, I recommend an organization called Vivos that tests for these sorts of issues. One of the biggest concerns with poor sleep is sleep apnea, which is when we stop breathing at night for short periods. This leads to a huge amount of sleep disruption. Often doctors will not order this unless you are overweight as there is a big link between excess weight and sleep apnea. While this link is true, I have seen plenty of people over years at their ideal weight that still suffer from sleep apnea.

Video 8: Stress, Fasting and Your Libido

When it comes to stress and libido, there is a bit of a vicious cycle that can be created. For example, stress for many people makes their libido go do (some people find the opposite), but oxytocin, released during intimacy is one of the best ways of managing our stress hormones. Therefore, finding ways of balancing your stress hormones and doing relaxing activities before sex can help with getting you in the mood.

Important Labs for Stress Hormones:

• Cortisol- morning cortisol levels as soon as you wake up are best.

• DHEAs: Please make sure that DHEAs is ordered and not DHEA.

One of the biggest things that is under talked about is our natural ability to turn ourselves on. Often times we rely on external cues such as what someone says or how someone looks to become turned on. While in partnership, it is good to be aware of what turns one person on or off, we also have the personal responsibility with libido to turn ourselves on. Pay attention to what brings you pleasure. Do you like certain fabrics? What if you wore your favorite lingerie

under your work clothes? Does covering yourself with oil at night turn you on? What sort of sounds turn you on? Can you listen to certain music to get yourself in the mood? Perhaps even spank the side of your butt? The more we learn how to turn ourselves on, the more our libido will be independent of another person.
