ABOUT MSS In the end of 2006 the need of maritime security industry development seemed to be high. Both, strategic locations of oil - bearing areas and the shortest route to eastern export powers required proper preparation of the shipping companies and their vessels to continue transport safely for crew, cargo and charterers making it free from

the

risk

of

hijack

or

acts

of

terrorism.

Responding

this

threat

LCDR (R) Sebastian Kalitowski, the founder of Maritime Safety & Security established the very first in Eastern Europe, private security company, totally focused on maritime security industry. All the intellectual heritage of the company had been developed in cooperation with maritime professionals who have experience in the vessel management during the pirate attacks or who had implemented corresponding

tasks

as

naval

special

forces

officers.

In

2009

Maritime Safety & Security established special training centre preparing future armed guards to work on board the vessels and seafarers to sail in high risk areas. Strong efforts were recognized by local and national authorities. The company was granted rights to carry out maritime security courses for critical infrastructure as port facilities or tactical trainings for SWAT Units. Besides, Maritime Safety & Security experts assistance was visible in advising the most important government officers as e.g. Marshall (i.e. Governor) of the Province. Quality of provided services is the subject of institutional audition by Germanischer Lloyd from whom worldwide recognized ISO 9001:2008 certificate for anti - terrorism and anti - piracy trainings and maritime security and vessel protection operations was granted, confirming Maritime Safety & Security trustworthy partner for business. As a private company, it is an active member of worldwide associations integrating security companies and professionals, incl. International Association of Counterterrorism and Security Professionals. It is also a member of International Code of Conduct for Private Security Providers and Security Association for the Maritime Industry.

INSTRUCTORS

LCDR ( R ) Sebastian Kalitowski: Graduated from the Polish Military Naval Academy. He served in the Navy as a combat diver and a team leader of special combat divers unit in Formoza. Participant of stabilising mission in Kosovo. He spent 1.5 years in Balkans, implementing tasks connected with counter-terrorism and combating international organized crime. Yacht and motorboat oceangoing master, hand- to-hand combat instructor and paratrooper. Maritime safety and security court expert. Chairman of board and chief instructor of Maritime Safety & Security.

LT ( R ) Robert Pawłowski: Former member of Polish naval forces Formoza. He there 13 years of duty. Veteran of wars in Persian Gulf and Afghanistan. Further experience he gained at close protection field. Advisor in the projects related to Afghan police training. Specialist in tactical training and consulting. Experienced maritime security operator

LCDR ( R ) Krzysztof Suchomski: Former naval special forces unit Formoza operator and commander of special tasks section. Served in Special Operations Command and Control Element in Afghanistan as planning officer. Founder of training centres Excalibur and S.W.A.T.

LEVEL 1 - BASIC Level 1 training includes the issues related to weapon safety and its proper handling, gunnery, general familiarisation with construction of weapons, marksmanship principles, tactics – static shooting, getting to the weapon and taking the aim, shooting positions, reloading, immediate action drills, target identification. Duration: 3 days, -

Rifle: 500 rds Pistol: 100 rds SMG: 50 rds Flat barrel shotgun: 50 rds

Day 1 (theory and dry run): -

Safety rules and general familiarisation with construction of weapons – 1h Gunnery and marksmanship principles – 1h Weapon handling drills and shooting positions – 2h Getting to the weapon/taking an aim – 3h Reloading and immediate action drills – 1h

Day 2 (Exercises at shooting range): -

Taking shooting positions – 1h Getting to the weapon/taking an aim – 2h Changing direction of fire – 2h Reloading drills – 2h

Day 3 (Exercises at shooting range): -

Revision of exercises trained on day 2 – 1h Immediate action drills (defective weapon, defective shooter’s hand) – 3h Target identification – 1,5h Searching for next targets and restraint target approach – 1,5h Comprehensive exercises – 1h

Note: Shooting positions training (dry and at the shooting range) includes various positions and firing with both strong and weak hands.

LEVEL 2 - ADVANCED Second level includes the issues related to external and terminal ballistics, tactics – dynamic shooting: shooting while moving, shooting from cover, weapons transition, fire team basics, sniper rifle shooting basics. Day 1 (theory and dry run) -

External and terminal ballistics – 1h Fire team work basis: fire sectors, signals and commands, elements of team covering – 3h Basic CQB/CQC – 2h Basic sniper rifle including heights of shooter and target. Shooting to moving targets and platforms – 1h

Day 2 -

Shooting from the covers and moving from cover to cover – 2h Shooting while moving – 2h CQB/CQC elements and shooting in close quarters – 2h Shooting to moving targets – 2h

Day 3 -

Team shooting – 3h Basic shooting in CQB and CQC shooting – 3h Basic sniper rifle shooting – 3h

Note: shooting from the cover, shooting while moving, CQB/CQC, team shooting include shooting from strong and weak hand. Team shooting include both static shooting, shooting while team is moving, covering each other. Both courses can be combined into one 6 – days extended training.
