Ripon’s multi award winning agent,
Davis & Lund, now open in Thirsk As
Ripon’s
Estate
and
No.1
Independent
Letting
Agent
in
2020**, we were immensely proud to receive the Gold Award from The British Property Awards as the Best Letting Agent in Ripon.
16 Millgate, Thirsk, YO7 1AA 01845 421010 www.davislund.co.uk
As local winners, we were automatically entered in to the regional award for North & East Yorkshire, with hundreds of other winning agents. We are now brimming with pride to have received the Bronze Regional Award. The feedback received said that our team performed outstandingly throughout the extensive judging period, which focused on customer service levels. The British Property Awards provide agents throughout the UK with an invaluable opportunity to compare the service that they provide against the service provided by their local, regional and national competition. Agents that go that extra mile and provide outstanding levels of customer service are rewarded with our accolade, which act as a beacon to highlight these attributes to their local market place. Well done the Lettings Team! 2021 has started where 2020 left off when it comes to house sales. Last year, despite the lockdowns, we achieved record sales numbers since we opened in 2016. After just 20 weeks of 2021, we have already reached over 50% of our sales numbers from 2020, so 2021 looks likely to be another record breaking year. The stamp duty freeze has definitely helped keep the market buoyant and although the holiday partially ends on 30th June, there is still no stamp duty payable on properties up to £250,000 for qualifying purchases; this is due to revert back to the £125,000 limit on 30th September. With more and more demand for virtual viewings, Davis & Lund have invested in equipment to make this easier for our clients. Using Matterport, a world leader in 3D technology, we can now create full 3D tours, giving you a better idea of the space available in the property. You can virtually walk all the way through the property, from the comfort and safety of your own home. The best part? For anyone that instructs us to market their property before the end of June 2021, we will include this for free.
If you would like to take advantage of this amazing offer, please call the office on 01845 421010 or email sales@davislund.co.uk

Did you know that most denture wearers struggle daily with the problem of loose and uncomfortable dentures? Badly designed dentures not only cause this discomfort but can greatly affect denture wearers’ confidence and appearance, causing that premature aged look so often associated with wearing dentures. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. Fortunately, with today’s technology, there are fantastic solutions for most denture wearers’ desires or problems, from full denture restoration that can restore your natural facial shape, to the latest generation semi-flexible partial denture options and implant stabilised dentures. In many cases, it’s just a matter of careful evaluation, correcting bad design and listening carefully to what denture wearers want. To design a successful denture takes years of experience and technical knowledge, dedication and an ability to relate to denture wearers’ needs and expectations. The most important step is choosing the most reputable and experienced denture expert with the right skills and experience. If you’re considering having new dentures to replace an old worn out set or wish to look years younger as a denture wearer, you naturally want the best care, a safe and hygienic environment and the fastest possible treatment. Most importantly, if you’re going to pay good money, you want to see

Petcations 2021 Blue Cross expects many of us will be taking a UK holiday this year and as more people have taken on a pet since the beginning of lockdowns last year many dogs will be away from home for the first time. The charity has come up with some preparations it is a good idea to take in planning to take your dog on holiday with you this year • Pack their blanket or bed • Always have clean water for the journey and while away • Pack their favourite toys in case of rainy days • Pack any medicines they need • Make sure flea and worm treatment is up to date • Pack their food, treats and a chew to help them relax • Check contact details of nearest vet and pack a doggy first aid kit - just in case • Make sure your mobile number is on their dog tag • Also consider taking a dog towel if your
dog might go in the sea or other water and their grooming brush. Visit www.bluecross.org.uk/petholiday to find out more. Keep pets cool on hot days Despite warnings by animal welfare charities every year sadly dogs are still left in cars on warm days. Even with windows rolled down, cars effectively act like ovens and within minutes dogs overheat. It’s also a good idea to avoid walking your dog in the middle of the day, take them out in the morning or evening to avoid them overheating. Also monitor their playtime in the summer heat, dogs might not realise they are overdoing it when they are having a good time! Cats may like to sunbathe but those with pale ears and noses are prone to developing skin cancer if they spend too long in the sun. Make sure there is plenty of shade if the like spending time in the garden.
Always have plenty of fresh, clean water available for your pet and if taking your dog on a long journey or on holiday with you make sure they have regular water and toilet stops. Visit www.bluecross.org.uk/summer for more advice on protecting pets in warmer weather. To find out more about Bailey, or to make a donation towards his and the other pets care contact the Blue Cross rehoming centre in Thirsk on 0300 777 1540 orthirsk@bluecross.org.uk. Visit at Station Road, Thirsk YO7 3SE. The centre is open from 11.00am to 4.00pm every day except Wednesday when it is closed.
Perfect Environment to Safely Exercise Your Dogs Corners K9 Fields Is designed to provide a safe location for people to let their dogs run freely off the lead; you simply book a time slot, online, which allows you sole use of a field of your choice.
the dogs, such as weave poles and hurdles, in two fields; one field is just a plain stretch of grass for simply enjoying the freedom of running off leash or running after a ball.
Comprising of three ‘dog walking’ paddocks, each approximately 2 acres in size with 1.85 metre high fencing, they provide a perfect environment for young dogs who are in training, dogs with poor recall, elderly, injured or nervous dogs; this is advantageous in such a rural area where dogs near livestock can be a concern.
Corners K9 Fields are open 365 days of the year within daylight hours. Once you book your time slot a padlock code is sent to you to enable you to access the field for your allotted time slot. Prices start from £5 for 30 mins for 1-3 dogs. Gift certificates and packages offering 20% discount, are also available. There is something for everyone – even benches for the humans to rest & enjoy that flask of tea whilst their dogs are exercising safely!
Each field offers something unique as dogs have a variety of requirements: one of the fields has privacy screening around the circumference to prevent the dogs being distracted which is ideal for dogs in training or highly reactive dogs; there is a variety of enrichment equipment to challenge
