Wxw Sk8 Nights

Wxw Sk8 Nights are hosted at the Waxhaw Sk8 Park in April and September by the Parks & Recreation and the Waxhaw Police departments. This is a Skate Jam format. The skateboarding competition is free to compete in and we will be dishing out prizes and skate gear! www.waxhaw.com

Queen’s Cup Steeplechase

No event in the Charlotte region gives you the experience you get at the Queen’s Cup. Kaleidoscope The Festival of Colors

Kaleidoscope Fest is Waxhaw's spring festival held in downtown Waxhaw the weekend after Mother's Day, and welcomes the beginning of the festival season. www.waxhaw.com

Jammin' by the Tracks

JAARS Day

Watch flight demos, see how innovations in technology and software are speeding Bible translation, or take flight in a missionary plane or helicopter at this free event. Patriotic Ceremonies

The Town of Waxhaw is steeped in military history and very proud of its military service members, both past and present. Local military personnel are honored on Memorial Day, 9/11 Patriot Day and Veteran's Day with a remembrance ceremony at the Military Wall of Honor in downtown Waxhaw. Held the 2nd Saturday in December, the Wreaths Across America event pays tribute to US Veterans by placing wreaths on military graves in the Town cemetery. With a strong partnership between the Town of Waxhaw, American Legion and local business leaders, each ceremony is educational in nature. www.waxhaw.com

Independence Day Celebration

Waxhaw is perhaps best known for its July 4th Parade. This hometown parade takes place through the streets of downtown Waxhaw and is attended by enthusiastic revelers. Announcers cover the entire parade route to make sure that you hear all of the details surrounding the fun entries passing by from antique cars and fire engines, to paradethemed floats, horses, stilt walkers, clowns, and more.

Pups N Pints

Bring Fido to this fun event featuring beer, puppies, entertainment, food and more all to help raise money for South Charlotte Dog Rescue's Emergency Medical Fund. This annual event is held in Downtown Waxhaw under the water tower. www.facebook.com/pupsandpints

Autumn Treasures

This two-day event, held the second weekend in October, highlights some of the finest local artisans and crafters, in our biggest event of the year. Other features include live entertainment, a food court featuring fun foods like hot dogs, smoked turkey legs, funnel cakes, shaved ice and much more. For the kids, there is the Kidz Zone with a children’s entertainment stage, rides, inflatables. and more www.waxhaw.com

Grill’n & Chill’n BBQ Cook Off

Your mouth will water from the sweet smell of barbecue cooking. Held in October during Autumn Treasures, up to 30 barbecue teams cook and have their meats judged by a professional line-up of Kansas City Barbeque Society certified judges. www.waxhaw.com

National Night Out

Held nationally on the first Tuesday in August. Neighbors come together with local law enforcement agencies to raise crime and drug prevention awareness and to send a message to the criminals that the communities are organized and are fighting back to discourage criminal behavior. This safe and fun event is a great opportunity for you and your family get to know the public servants that are dedicated to keeping you safe.

Fright Night

Downtown Waxhaw comes alive the Saturday before Halloween with kids and adults in this family-friendly festive costumed event. This free event invites participants to trickor-treating in the downtown business district, costume contests, a haunted maze, spooky carriage rides, and ghouling music! www.waxhaw.com

Holiday Happenings in Waxhaw

GingerSnap 5K / Girls On The Run Race is an annual race open to everyone. It’s held the Saturday before Thanksgiving in downtown Waxhaw and benefits Girls On The Run of Union County NC.

Menorah Lighting is held during the Jewish Hanukkah celebration. The ceremony takes place by the Old Oak Tree bandstand on E. North Main Street in downtown Waxhaw.

Senior Citizens Christmas Party is a town-sponsored party held the first Friday in December. Waxhaw senior citizens are invited to enjoy a Christmas dinner with entertainment and Christmas cheer, courtesy of several Waxhaw area restaurants.

Holiday Festival of Lights begins the first Saturday in December with over one million lights sparkling and twinkling through historic downtown Waxhaw. Musical perform-ances, a live nativity, free carriage rides, carnival rides and games, children’s activities and an appearance by Santa highlight this celebration.

Waxhaw Christmas Parade is held downtown on the second Sunday in December and features local school marching bands, floats, and entries by hundreds of businesses and members of the community.

Wreaths Across America is a great ceremonial event that honors and remembers fallen military veterans who have supported and defended our great nation. The Parkwood JROTC, the Union County Composite Squadron (Cival Air Patrol), along with the Town of Waxhaw are proud sponsors of this annual nationwide event. You are invited to be a part of this remembrance by joining us for a commemorative ceremony and the laying of wreaths on local veterans’ gravesites.

Santa's Ride Thru the Neighborhoods is a partnership with the North Pole, the Town of Waxhaw and the Waxhaw Volunteer Fire Department. Santa makes an appearance in 35 neighborhoods within the official Waxhaw’s town limits the third week in December. Due to his hectic schedule, Santa does not stop in the neighborhoods but drives by waving and wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.
