Unsharp Mask Corrects blurring Increases sharpness → emphases edges between different tones within image.

Unsharp Mask

Unsharp Mask View your image at 100% on screen when applying. Effects of the Unsharp Mask are more noticeable on-screen than in print. For final evaluation always check the final print and adjust if necessary.

Unsharp Mask The three controls for the filter are: • Amount controls the increase in contrast between different tones or pixels at the edges. 80 to 120% is normal. For very large, high-resolution images, between 150% and 200% is usually optimum.

Unsharp Mask The three controls for the filter are: • Radius controls the width of the effect occurring at edges. Usually no need to exceed 1 pixel. Large, high-resolution images, a between 1 - 2 is usually best. A lower value sharpens only edge pixels, whereas a higher value sharpens a wider band of pixels.

Unsharp Mask The three controls for the filter are: • Threshold controls where the effect takes place. 0 threshold affects all pixels whereas a high threshold affects only edges with a high tonal difference. Usually kept 0 - 2 for images digital cameras images. Increased to avoid accentuating noise (2 to 20).
