Even more than the other superstars of his generation,Johnny Depp has built a parsonal mythos as complex and compelling as his career. In a sense he has managed to position himself as the beatnik troubadour of American cinema. Now aged 53,Depp may be reinventing himself yet again.

The Beatnik Troubadour of American Cinema ‘J’ohnny Depp is perhaps one of the most versatile actors of his day and age in Hollywood.’

Perhaps more importantly, the success of The Kids furnished Depp with a rising sense of popularity and accomplishment - ironically shot down by Iggy Pop himself during a backstage confrontation. Soon Depp joined ‘Rock City Angels ‘ and co wrote their song ‘Mary’ which appeared on their debut album ‘Geffen Records; album ‘Young mans blues;. His divorce from Lori Allison catalyzed engagements to multiple love interests including Sherilyn Fenn and Jennifer Gray in the late 1980s before proposing in 1990 to his Edward Scissorhands co-star Winona Ryder, for whom he tattooed “WINONA FOREVER” on his right arm. It was then his journey in the industry began to rise after acting in the Fox television series ‘21 jump street’ as a police officer in 1987. Depps first independent film released in 1990 was ‘Cry baby’. Depp gave his own voice as a singer for the film. Depps second film was

‘Edward Scissorhands ‘ which led him to an established Hollywood actor. Depp has generally chosen roles which he found interesting , rather than those he thought would succeed at the box office. Critics have often described his character as ‘Iconic loners’. Depp has referred to few of his less successful films as ‘Box Office Poison’. e earned widespread acclaim for his comic performance as pirate captain; Jack Sparrow' starred in Walt Disney pictures ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ series. Between the years of the pirates of the Caribbean series ,he gave a box office success as Willy Wonka in ‘Charlie and the chocolate factory 'Which reunited him with the director Tim Burton again. In 2004, Depp formed his production company ‘Infinitum Nihil ’ , to develop projects where he will serve as actor or producer The company released few movies naming The Rum Diary , Hugo in 2011 and Dark Shadows in 2012. Many legal issues and controversies have always been with Depp alongside his career. In 1999,Depp was arrested for brawling with paparazzi outside a restaurant in London. Next followed in 2012 when Prof. Robin Eckert claimed to be attacked by Depps security guards at a concert, but the case was ultimately settled in 2013for an undisclosed amount. .2015, he was accused of getting his dogs to Australia in a private jet while on a shoot for the fifth installment of the Pirates. The case was quoted i n The Guardian as ‘ Highest Profile Criminal Quarantine Case’ in Australian history. Depp was blamed for domestic abuse by his wife Amber Heard in 2016.After giving and changing many statements to the LAPD about the violence, the divorce was finally settled in august 2016 and it was heard the duo quoting -”Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound with love. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. The finance was never a problem.” To date, Johnny Depp has been nominated twice for an Oscar as well as five Golden Globes; however, he has won nothing but an Honorary Cesar from the French. Although he has recently been rewarded with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, it is discouraging that a man of such

a diverse acting magnitude has yet to be credited with the praise and awards that are righteously due.The 50-year-old star told the BBC in an interview broadcast earlier today that he would hope to move on to “quieter things” in the near future. “I wouldn’t say I’m dropping out any second, but I would say it’s probably not too far away,” said Depp. “When you add up the amount of dialogue that you say per year and you realise that you’ve said written words more than you’ve had a chance to say your own words, you start thinking about that as an insane option for a human being. ”The clock’s ticking on that,” Depp says. “There’s only a couple more years that I’ve got, otherwise I’ll be playing Hamlet’s father.” If he takes on the

role, it would be in a “tiny, tiny little theater,” he says. Or not. “As careers go, you’ve got your ups, you’ve got your downs, peaks and valleys and all that,” he says. “I may end up doing special appearances at shopping malls as Jack Sparrow. You never know.”

"With all my characters, it's just depressing to leave them. With Captain Jack, when we finished the first movie, I had a feeling I'd see him again. I didn't feel like I was saying goodbye. By the end of the third movie, I'm sure that's going to be a different story. But it's always hard."

Jack Sparrow is such a wonderfully vivid and funny character. A pirate ahead of his time in many ways, Jack Sparrow likes to consider himself as the epitome of a free spirit. He swishes his way through life with a slightly odd, but strangely wise attitude. He is perhaps a bit crazy, for we learn he may have been overbaked in the sun while marooned once. But he still is smart enough to survive in a tough world without resorting to force to get what he wants. In fact he once said, "Why fight when you can negotiate?" This leads to some people seeing him asa coward and truth be told Jack is not heroic in the straightforward sense. He watches and reads people and gladly manipulates them for his own ingenious ends. That said, he avoids harming people for even his enemies only get what they truly deserve. Jack has a sense of right that may fluctuate by circumstance in the details, but he still has a sense of honor. When the chips are down Jack will come through, if at all humanly possible, for his friends or the greater good. Jack carries on his person little tokens or souvenirs from places he's been or people he's met. He has a habit of picking things up as he goes along, like the rings he wears. His hat is probably his favorite article of clothing. A compass that shows its user what he wants most in the world is another crucial possession. He also carries a silver-plated pistol and a short cutlass. Jack's a good swordfighter. He has used both an oar and a coconut as a weapon. He has a good eye and amazing aim, and is a bit of an acrobat. Jack also has an eternal love of rum, like many other pirates, and is immensely proud of the Black Pearl, originally the "Wicked Wench", his ship.

How is it to be a Pirate ? It was extreme to watch Johnny Depp create that character because he played him like complete drunken fool ,not that he ws drunk but everytime I looked at him and said I always thought he had about 8 vodkas or something as he barely get his winter garden. He would casually throw things off and it was such a cool performance and very masterfully done. - Geoffrey Rush

“

or me getting to play captain jack ,there is something very fun in the idea that you could be totally ,utterly irrelevant that you are free to sort of just go and experience. I was pretty sure about Jack. The kinds of ingredients that would go with Jack, It was a great opportunity to invent a different kind of pirate you know nobody has seen before. Jack sparrow kind of came live as I was reading the screen but it was reading the script in the sauna .The heat was very important for me in that the idea of sweltering heat and the heat that we put into our own brain just from obsessing with thinking with one thing One of my main hero and a guy who i think is maybe the most together human being I have ever seen or met is Keith Richards ,so you take something solid as that and you combine it with say Pepe Le Pew ,the cartoon character ,I felt very strong that he would resemble kind of modern day Rastafarian , the each little pieces on Jack Sparrow is kind of inspired from him. The pieces are a very vivid and extremely important memory for Jack. I remember the first day I was in full captain Jack makeup and the wardrobe you know was just sort of seeing the character for the first time and then Gore came into the room and said "that's it, you got it ." and he knew I was trying to go with the character and he got the humor.Jack is probably the pirate that everyone wants to be .What he felt like to me was a guy who was miraculously able to run between the raindrops. I mean all he wants is to get his ship back .He is a fun character, indeed a fun character but bring him to life was my favorite part. I think ultimately we did well .

Characters

Depp

and his

The Mad Hatter From: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Tim Burton’s pseudo-sequel Alice in Wonderland imagined the illogical fantasy worlds of Lewis Carroll as a fairly standard hero’s journey, propped up with one gauche design after another. At least The Mad Hatter was memorably gauche. Johnny Depp did the best he could to breathe life into the film with an interpretation of the classic character as a somewhat heroic but mostly sad creation, whose occupation - and its close proximity to the poisonous metal mercury - has driven him to insanity. He knows that his mind has gone, and sometimes he suspects he’s worse off for it. Still he futterwackens vigorously. Memorable Line: “You used to be much more muchier. You’ve lost your muchness.”

Captain Jack Sparrow From: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) The character may or may not have outworn his welcome after three mixed-bag sequels and countless co players trying to look swarthy, but none of us will ever forget Jack Sparrow. Once again, Johnny Depp took a role in a potentially conventional action yarn and spun gold from the hay, making Pirates of the Caribbean an unexpected hit by the sheer force of his originality. Easy to impersonate, hard to properly describe, the wobbly and off-putting (yet endlessly capable) Captain earned Depp his first-ever Oscar nomination. Even the Academy had to recognize that he was doing brilliant work, in a genre and with a character from which nobody expected a damn thing. Memorable Line: “You forgot one very important thing, mate: I’m Captain Jack Sparrow.”

Edward Scissorhands From: Edward Scissorhands (1990) How do porcupines mate? Carefully, of course, and Tim Burton’s unique suburban fairy tale reminds us that this juxtaposition of love and pain is never far from our thoughts. Johnny Depp seemingly escaped from a German Expressionist horror film, but despite his razor sharp hands he only seems to want to express love. Burton imagines a world that accepts Edward’s otherness as long as it entertains them, and fears him as soon as Edward needs their understanding. Maybe he doesn’t belong in a pastel-colored suburb, but it makes your heart ache to imagine that maybe... he doesn’t belong anywhere at all. Memorable Line: “Hold me.” “I can’t.”

Willy Wonka From: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) Although he may never replace the great Gene Wilder as the most beloved cinematic Willy Wonka, no one can say that Johnny Depp didn’t try to put his own stamp on the classic character. Depp’s version isn’t a mad genius, he’s an isolated man-child whose fantastical chocolate factory is as much an expression of obsessive-compulsive self-entertainment as it is actually capable of making candy. With his too-tight gloves and elf-like high octaves, he evokes Michael Jackson in his Neverland Ranch, a bizarre - though certainly intriguing interpretation of Roald Dahl’s classic creation. Memorable Line: “Don’t touch that squirrel’s nuts!”
