Energy-efficient tips for the Holidays
T
he Holiday Season is a time when most of the household expenses, particularly the consumption of energy, go up. This Christmas time, you can spend the holidays without worrying about being out of budget. At the same time, you can enjoy the season and remain energy-efficient and environment-friendly. Giving importance to energy efficiency may not be included yet in your household’s holiday traditions but doing it can help reduce energy costs every year. Below are some suggestions to keep the energy use and costs down:
Use LED Christmas lights. Light-emitting diode (LED) lights are believed to be energy efficient since they use 99% less energy compared to incandescent ones. Also, LED lights last longer compared to regular lights.

Set time on when to turn off holiday displays. Set the holiday decors’ timer so it will turn off on your desired time. You can also assign a point person in your household to be responsible in turning off the displays. Also, consider reducing the operation hours of your outdoor Christmas lights.

Clean your electric fans and air conditioner’s filter. Take advantage of this season’s cold weather as a time to clean the air ventilation. A dirty air ventilation uses more energy but reduces airflow.
