DTI-Region 8 attends a wellness session Some Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Region 8 employees, who were affected by Typhoon Yolanda, attended the Daloy ng Buhay: Flowing through Seasons of Change, a wellness session on stress debriefing held on February 26-28, 2014 at the Ritz Tower, Tacloban City. A team of facilitators from Growth in Wholeness and Well-Being Associates, Inc. (GINHAWA), in partnership with DTI-Human Resource Development and Personnel Services (HRDPS), conducted the session focused on releasing pent-up stress embedded in the participants’ bodies and psyches. GINHAWA Facilitator Leah R. Tolentino, an expert in the field of healing, well-being, and transformation, guided everyone in de-stressing through activities including trauma release exercise, breath work, sound healing, meditation, and prayer rituals. A lecture on stress and trauma was also given in order to understand the impact of the Yolanda experience. Fifty-five participants were able to experience relief from their psycho-emotional distress brought about by the calamity.

The participants were also guided to an activity on dealing and accepting the losses they suffered and a ritual of befriending the water. The session also nurtured health and hope among the participants as well as strengthening their camaraderie with each other when they were able to know similar struggles and experiences they went through. The participants recognized their own strengths and wisdom and ended the session gratefully.
