BDTP inaugurates KAHIMUNAN Fair, to run until 28 November The Kahimunan Fair 2014 opened last 6 November 2014 at the newly renovated OTOP Store Makati located at the ground floor of Trade and Industry Building. The fair is open from Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will run until 28 November 2014. Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Region 10, together with Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP), the event features various products from Northern Mindanao provinces namely, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental. Kahimunan is a Manobo term which means “gathering,” a celebration of Northern Mindanao’s good harvest. The featured products include home style and living, health and organic products, sugar, coffee, and beverages, snack foods, and processed foods.

Visitors of the Kahimunan Fair have a wide selection of products to look forward to. Aside from the food and other organic products, they also offer crafts and fashion accessories, Christmas ornaments, and furniture and furnishings straight from Northern Mindanao.

The Bukidnon coffee is from the finest arabica and robusta coffee beans grown at the foothills of Mount Kitanglad. Meanwhile, the processed sea food from Misamis Occidental came from a plentiful harvest of Panguil Bay. Part of the fair was the conduct of special events like the Bukidnon Coffee Day on 7 November, where they exhibitors offered free samples of Bukidnon coffee and the showcase of Cagayan de Oro’s favorite hams last 14 November. On 20 to 21 November, Misamis Occidental is scheduled to showcase their selection of rice suman and processed seafood delights. The showcase is part of the DTI’s efforts to promote the small and medium enterprises (SMEs). According to BDTP, the next exhibit will feature homegrown products from Rizal, beginning 01 December 2014.

A wide variety of products from Northern Mindanao provinces such as processed snack food, spices and condiments, crafts and accessories are showcased in the Kahimunan Fair.
