No.07 ▪ 10 April 2012
At present, DTI’s libraries are in different locations, being managed by different offices, use different library systems, and operate independently to serve specific clients. The diversity of libraries causes inconvenience to library users and information gaps in coverage and flows of information. Once operational, these libraries will be linked and databases will be standardized. Researchers will only have to log on to DTI’s Online Public Access System (OPAC) to search for specific library materials without having to personally visit any of the DTI libraries to get the bibliographic information required.
Benefits of e-library system
Convenient access to DTI libraries’ bibliographic information by clients Enhanced data processing and retrieval Maximized use of all information available as well as resources Strengthened DTI library network Minimized duplication of acquisition and processing efforts
