DTI showcases best of local food products at Sikat Pinoy National Food Fair 2014 The Department of Trade and Industry–Bureau of Domestic Trade (DTI-BDT), in partnership with DTI’s Regional and Provincial Offices, currently showcases the best local food products from the country’s 16 regions at Megatrade Halls 1-3, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. The event, which opened on 26 March 2014, will run until 30 March, with fair hours from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. In his speech, DTI Secretary Gregory L. Domingo lauded all the DTI Regional and Provincial Offices for encouraging micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to bring their products in the trade fair dubbed Piling-Piling Pagkaing Pilipino. He also commended the entrepreneurs for their creativity, dedication, perseverance, and hard work in developing delicious food products. He assured the over 200 participating MSMEs that “DTI will continue its efforts to provide necessary services that will help MSMEs succeed and be competitive in the global market.”

This year’s food fair also showcases pavilions for three products, namely coffee, pili, and seafood. The event also features Awareness Seminars on online marketing, licensing of food establishments or food business operators, guidelines for registration of processed and cooked foods, and duties of MSMEs as responsible taxpayers. Cook Magazine is also hosting cooking demonstrations and mounting a cooking contest during the trade fair. Another highlight of the trade fair was the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between DTI and SM Mart Inc., establishing Business Service Centers in all SM Malls throughout the country to make it more accessible to applicants to register their business names.
