DTI employees attend National Nutrition Month seminar Some Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) employees recently attended the 2013 National Nutrition Month Seminar, with the theme “Gutom at Malnutrisyon, Sama-sama Nating Wakasan,” held at the DTI Center Conference Room. National Nutrition Council (NNC) Nutrition Officer Ellen Abella discussed about malnutrition and hunger in the Philippines and the ways to celebrate the National Nutrition Month. Abella pointed out the factors related to hunger, namely food inflation, underemployment, increased household members, educational attainment, Minimum wage, and climate change. She said that the government’s 4Ps -- Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program -is a big help to eradicate malnutrition and hunger in the country. She also informed the participants that 2013 has been declared as the National Year of Rice by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 494. It aims to attain rice self-sufficiency and promote public awareness on responsible rice consumption.
