DTI conducts SPMS Training of Trainers In the run up to the full implementation of the Performance Governance System (PGS) as the tool in the adoption of the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS), the Management Services Group (MSG) conducted an agency-wide workshop dubbed “SPMS Training of Trainers: Dashboard Workshop for Human Resource and Planning Officers” on Oct. 24-25, 2013 at the Best Western Plus Antel Hotel in Makati City. Jointly facilitated by the Office of Operational Planning (OOP) and Human Resource Development and Personnel Services (HRDPS), the two-day training aimed to enable the participants to take the lead in the development of their respective units’ individual dashboards. In her opening remarks, Undersecretary for MSG Nora K. Terrado urged the participants to focus on the top 3 priorities of each unit to be able to contribute to the DTI’s goal and put into action DTI’s battle cry, “Do good. Be felt. Make a difference.”

HRDPS Director-in-Charge Joel R. Cruz presented an overview of the SPMS, Financial Management Service (FMS) Director Ireneo V. Vizmonte gave updates on “Performance-Based Incentive System 2013,” and OOP Director Mary Jean T. Pacheco talked on “Harmonizing PGS with Government Performance Management Systems.” The training sessions also featured the testimonials from pilot offices, namely Aurora Provincial Office, DTI-National Capital Region (NCR), and Region 9. Participants also got to listen to some lecturettes on public speaking, personality development, and coaching that aimed to equip them when they download the training’s learnings to their offices. They also did simulation exercises to better prepare them when they go back to their respective units.

Undersecretary for Regional Operations and Development Group (RODG) Zenaida C. Maglaya, together with Directors Cruz, Vizmonte, and Pacheco, answered the participants’ queries during the open forum on the second day. Maglaya underscored the importance of the HR and Planning Officers’ participation to the said training in the successful development of the individual dashboards of their offices’ staff. All offices were given until November 15, 2013 to submit their individual dashboards. #
