ITG Building gets Efficient Lighting Certification The Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) International Trade Group (ITG) Building has been awarded the Efficient Lighting Certification (ELC) for having lighting fixtures installed in the building retrofitted under the lighting initiative of the Philippine Energy Efficiency Project (PEEP). According to the assessment conducted by Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) and Department of Energy (DOE), the ITG Building has a potential to save 24,467.01 kilowatt-hour (kWh), equivalent to PHP 133,834.54 per year. The ELC is one of the activities under DOE-PEEP-Efficient Building Initiative (EBI) that distinguishes government establishments for engaging on efficient lighting systems. PHILGBC and DOE evaluated national government agencies (NGAs) with complete requirements for ELC. Another highlight of the event was the launch of the nine new Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) Green Building Rating Schemes. The scheme measures, verifies, and monitors the environmental performance of buildings that exceed existing mandatory regulations and standards.
