IMPAKABSAT 2013 ongoing at Festival Supermall The Department of Trade and Industry-Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) is currently showcasing the best products from the region in IMPAKABSAT 2013, which runs until November 28, 2013 at the Festival Supermall, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. Now on its 18th year, IMPAKABSAT products on sale include giftware, fresh and processed food, furniture and home furnishings, jewelry, and loom woven items, among others, from 75 exhibitors. The acronym IMPAKABSAT stands for the eight provinces in the region, namely Ifugao, Mt. Province, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Benguet and Baguio City, completed with the Ilocano word “kabsat,” which loosely translates to sibling, brother, or sister in Northern Luzon. “Today on its 18th year, we are proud to say that the fair has gone a long, long way in terms of improving the quality of products of CAR,” DTI-CAR Regional Director Myrna P. Pablo said during the fair’s opening ceremonies on Nov. 22. The fair generated P66M and P55M in sales in 2011 and 2012, respectively. In her keynote speech, DTI-Regional Operations and Development Group (RODG) Assistant Secretary Blesila A. Lantayona encouraged everyone to put the sales this year back to P66M or even exceed it. She urged them to spread the word about the trade fair and about patronizing local goods. She also thanked the various agencies and local government units (LGUs) that helped in staging the trade fair through the years.
