What’s up @ An internal information service for DTI employees
DTI moves to Office 365 The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in cooperation with Microsoft Philippines Inc. (MS), launched Office 365, a cloud-based Office suite on December 12, 2013 at the MS office in Makati City. DTI is the first government agency in the Philippines to use Office 365. “We are proud of the contribution of Office 365 to the modernization and optimization of the workplace in the public sector,” MS General Manager Karrie Ilagan said. “Microsoft and its innovative solution Office 365 have enabled us to focus on our transition through moving towards a highly productive, innovative but secure work environment aligned with our overall strategy for the DTI,” DTI Undersecretary for Management Services Group (MSG) Nora K. Terrado said. Terrado said this facility comes with responsibility. She urged DTI employees to remember the acronym - C.I.A. “C.I.A. is everyone’s responsibility even as MIS (Management Information Service) is leading this transformation and this change in the agency, every one of us has to share in making sure that ‘confidentiality’, ‘integrity’, and ‘availability’ is observed by everyone,” she said.

No. 41 ▪ December 23, 2013
Prior to the launching, two batches of trainers’ training were held on December 3 to 6, 2013 where information and communications technology (ICT) representatives from various DTI bureaus learned how to use MS Office 365 key features. Office 365 is huge; it provides 50GB of e-mail space for each of the accounts. The e-mail system, calendar, and office desktop applications – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint -are all in the cloud. Also, the DTI now has its own social network called Yammer and SharePoint Site to collaborate and share documents among same work groups. Meanwhile, DTI employees who are abroad or in the provinces can make use of the online video conferencing using Lync, which is included in the suite. “What we want to do is to be an agency of choice, to be leaders in the area of technology and we want to be DTI employees who are ready to do the next generation of technology,” Terrado said during the DTI Flag Ceremony held on November 11, 2013.
DTI Undersecretary for Management Services Group (MSG) Nora K. Terrado announces that DTI is moving its office system from the premise to the cloud and that the agency is the first government office to use Office 365.
