DTI holds fire drill, lecture The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-General Administrative Service (GAS) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Makati teamed up again this year to promote fire prevention and awareness to the DTI employees, in time for the Fire and Burn Prevention Month. This year’s fire prevention theme is “Isulong ang kaunlaran, Sunog, Kaalaman, at Pag-iingat ang Kailangan.”

In the fire drill, DTI employees performed actual firefighting scenarios from evacuation, fire truck’s arrival, and fire cessation. BFP-Makati Senior Inspector Rowena H. Gollod and her team also showed the different techniques on how to evacuate in case victims were entrapped in the building. Some volunteers also performed fire busting actions such as using fire extinguisher and putting out a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fire.

In the post analysis, Gollod commended DTI employees for their participation in the drill and their willingness to watch and learn. She suggested for DTI to have a proper emergency evacuation plan that should be well-disseminated to all DTI building occupants. Prior to the fire drill, the DTI Fire Brigade Team members and some volunteers also attended the Fire and Earthquake Seminar conducted by BFP-Makati, in coordination with National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), on March 10, 2014 at the 3/F Audio Visual Room, DTI Main Building.
