Ethan Meyer
Ethan Meyer’s multidisciplinary work includes painting, textile, wood, and mixed media sculpture, all with his trademark networks of complex lines and textures. His tumultuous patterns of phantasmagoric shapes and colors are inspired by consciousness, philosophy, and the unseen factors that affect daily life.
“My process relies on a sort of abstract problem solving, as nothing is planned. This automatist approach coupled with a maximalist aesthetic result in forms that are organic and geometric, focusing on contrast and movement. The overwhelming nature of the work is handled intentionally as a means of disrupting the viewers cognitive awareness and suspending them in a space that is both familiar and bizarre.” - Artist Statement
