We hosted the Lincoln Dubai Golf ProAm Series Grand Final over the Earth Course on Saturday 11th December. Accompanying each team was a UAE PGA Professional.

The competition format was the best 2 scores from 4 to count on each hole. It was a close contest with some excellent golf being played, and the scores highlighted that. Winning the event with a fantastic team score of 88 points was Mike Bolt, Eifaad Khan, Shiba Wahid and Tauseef Khan. The third event of December was the ever-successful Jumeirah Pairs by The Lounge Spa that was played over The Earth Course on Saturday 18th December.

The event was played in the most perfect golfing weather, which certainly helped the scoring, that gain was exceptional albeit very tight at the top, with three pairs posting the winning score of 44 points in a pairs betterball format.

Winning the event after a countback were the pair of Cathy Williams and James Bellis. In second place were Erik Peter Meijer and Richard Teale, with David Bainbridge and Tom Purdy in third place. In fourth place, one point behind on 43 points were Alan McNamara and Mark Schoombie.

Our final event of 2021 was the Jumeirah Golf Estates Christmas Scramble sponsored by Solutions Leisure Group. The event was played with an obvious Christmas spirit with some competitors going above and beyond in their Christmas themes fancy dress.

INTRODUCING... GARETH ROBERTS

TOURNAMENT EXECUTIVE

With this being my very first time in Dubai, I would like to thank all the members and colleagues for the warm welcome. I began my work in Jumeriah the week of the AVIV Dubai Championship. I could not imagine experiencing working at two European Tour events in my first two weeks here. It was a fantastic experience, once I hope to get another chance of.

I grew up in North Wales with my dad and older brother playing golf at a high standard and I was introduced to golf at a very young age. I had a successful amateur career winning the Welsh Boys Strokeplay title in 2010 and represented Wales Boys at Under 16s and at the Home Internationals in 2012. I realised I wanted to focus my career on golf, so I began the PGA Training Degree in 2018 while under the supervision of the Head Professional at North Whales Golf Club while studying out of the University of Birmingham. I have competed in PGA events around the UK, while assisting and helping other golfers achieve their golfing goals. In 2015 I graduated from Bangor University receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Retail Management and in 2022 I will be graduating from the University of Birmingham as a PGA professional. Prior to commencing my work at Jumeriah, I have furthered my education by retaining a level one certification out of the Titleist Performance Institute, level one certified instructor with Swing Catalyst and finally been certified in the Ping Fitting Training Program.

My role at Jumeirah Golf Estates is the Tournament Executive and I look forward to assisting the Golf Operations team to the best of my ability with my current knowledge and experience along with developing and learning new skills day by day. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each and every member.
