You are welcome to visit us Tuesday to Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, with regular late opening on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You can take part in one of our many workshops, talks and tours, or simply drop by to visit this historic building, browse in Inchicore Library (also open on Mondays) or enjoy our peaceful garden space.

Take a closer look at the biodiversity of Inchicore with eco gardener Polly Rowley-Sams. You will learn about the ecology of the locality and discover some unexpected local treasures. On 14th October Polly will be joined on the walk by a guest herbalist who will share the uses of the everyday plants that are under our feet.

Goldenbridge Cemetery tour
Weekly every Thursday and Saturday at 1 pm

Join us for a guided walking tour of Ireland’s first garden cemetery, founded by Daniel O’Connell almost 200 years ago, as Ireland’s non-denominational burial ground for any and all religions. The tour is approximately 75 minutes.

This weekly drop in craft session with craft artist-in-residence Niki Collier is aimed at those who want to get together, make things and enjoy being creative. Whether you are trying to ✔ finish an old project, start a new one or just experiment, this is for you. All levels of experience are welcome.

Join circus artist Fadi Zmorrod to learn juggling, acrobatics, stilt walking and more! Each workshop will be a chance to learn a new skill, improve your coordination and balance ✔ and have fun. No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to give it a go and challenge yourself

Drawing through colour - an introduction to pastels
Led by artist Ailbhe Barrett, these workshops will introduce you to drawing while teaching you about the different techniques and creative possibilities of pastels. These workshops are for ✔ adults and are suitable for complete beginners. Each workshop will focus on a different technique so you can book to come to one or book to come to them all.

Native Irish trees
Explore and learn about the native trees of Ireland. Discover the important role they play in supporting biodiversity and learn how to identify different species. Make a cyanotype print of a leaf to bring home with you. This workshop is led
by Polly Rowley-Sams and will include a short walk to a local green space. Children aged 7+ are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Reuse and repair social
Upcycle your old clothes into new treasures! Use your creativity to keep textiles out of landfill, chat and meet new people. This monthly clothes upcycling workshop is led by ✔ Change Clothes Crumlin, a community based clothing reuse hub. These workshops are family friendly, children should be accompanied by an adult.

Introduction to Spoken Word
John Cummins is a poet, spoken word performing artist and front man of the band Shakalak. These workshops will be an introduction to spoken word poetry and are suitable ✔ for anyone who is interested in language or poetry or who wants to try something new.

‘Sudden Light’, Stained Glass Talk and Practical Demonstration
Kerryming Sun is a contemporary stained glass artist who makes glass artworks and windows in Dublin. In this talk, Kerryming will give an introduction to the technical processes involved in making stained glass and offer a step
by step demonstration of the Tiffany Method. Please note this talk will include a short walk to St. Michael’s Church in Inchicore.

Mindful mark-making
Mark making is when we create different lines, dots, marks, patterns, and textures to make a picture, a drawing or some kind of artwork. Under the guidance of artist Liz Nilsson, in these workshops we will explore unconventional mark-making ✔ tools and play with lines, colour and texture. Each workshop will explore a different approach to mark-making. These workshops are for anyone who wants to try something new and enjoy being creative. They are open to all levels of experience.

Join artist Liz Walsh to make your own 3D Christmas garland. You will use paper punches and coloured paper and card to create shapes that you sew together into a garland. This fun
workshop is for adults and accompanied children. All materials will be provided.
Richmond Barracks Dance Programme
Tuesdays at 6 pm starting 10 October
We are excited to welcome back Philippa Donnellan and Mia DiChiaro as Dance Artists-in-Residence in Richmond Barracks. Philippa and Mia will run a variety of creative dance and movement activities for adults of all ages and abilities. The dance programme will also include dance film screenings curated by Philippa and Mia and visits to see dance performances.
The dance programme will kick off with Dance Delights on Tuesday October 10 at 6pm. Try out different dance styles in a relaxed environment, enjoy moving your body, meeting new people and having fun!

Talks at the Mess is a series of talks at Richmond Barracks on the first Wednesday of the month. Hosted by social historian Donal Fallon, each talk features a guest speaker and celebrates the rich stories and experiences of the local community, past and present.

Richmond Barracks is delighted to host 12 events for this year’s Dublin Festival of History. Now in its 11th year, this year’s Festival is the largest yet – with 200 free events taking place across Dublin city and county from 25 September to 15 October.
You’ll hear Cathy Scuffil, Dervilia Roche, Eoin Kinsella, Fergus Whelan, Sean J Murphy, Vawn Corrigan, Ivar McGrath and Suzanne Forbes, Liz Gillis and Dr Peter Rigney, among others, give talks and presentations.

The Richmond Barracks book club takes place every month. There is an in-person book club that meets in the Barracks on the last Wednesday of the month from 7 to 8 pm. An online book club meets via Zoom on the last Thursday of the month from 8 to 9 pm. The book club is a relaxed and friendly space where we talk about the book we have read, swap book recommendations and have a chat. Everyone is welcome to join in.
