Richard Guiney CEO, Dublin City BID

This is the 4th year that Dublin City Business Improvement District has organised the Dublin Fashion Festival, and we are delighted to present the festival again, through our consumer entity DublinTown.ie. This is a significant year for the festival, as it has taken a leap forward, with thanks to our new partner Samsung IT & Mobile Ireland. No other place in Ireland can match the range, quality and value of Dublin City Centre. In addition to our excellent retail outlets, ranging from the largest department stores to specialised boutiques, Dublin Town is also home to the finest beauty salons, hairdressers, shoe shops, restaurants, bars and not forgetting, the best hotels in the country. We also have a great transport system, which is getting even better with improvements by Luas, Dublin Bus and Irish Rail. We are delighted to see the wide range of businesses participating again in the festival and welcome the many new ones. I’d also like to thank and acknowledge the huge support of Dublin City Council, Fáilte Ireland and An Garda Síochána for their support of the festival. I’d finally like to thank all those who have helped to make the festival such a success, and one that is now unimssable in the fashion and social calendar.

TV presenter and style icon Laura Whitmore is the face of the Dublin Fashion Festival in association with Samsung.

FACE OF THE FESTIVAL

I always love coming home to Ireland but coming back to celebrate Dublin city and fashion, two things close to my heart, make this trip extra special. Dublin town is one of my favourite shopping destinations - it has such a great mix of shops, from independent boutiques to designer options, and great restaurants and buzzing bars to round off a perfect day of retail therapy!

Laura, who was brought up in Bray, studied journalism at Dublin City University. Laura found fame in 2008, when MTV launched “Pick me MTV”, a campaign to search for the next big presenter. She beat the other competitors, and landed herself a job as face of MTV News in Europe. Reporting from music and film festivals around the world, Laura has interviewed some of the biggest names in show business from Coldplay to Michael Caine, Robert Downey Jr to Justin Bieber. In 2011 she replaced Caroline Flack on ITV2’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Now! Anchoring the series and keeping cohosts Joe Swash and Russell Kane in check! 2012 was a great year for Laura, not only carrying the Olympic torch she also returned to the jungle to host a second series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Now for ITV2. She also fronted The Brits coverage for ITV and The Beat which was broadcast live each night throughout the Olympics. Laura hit 2013 running, with her fashion credibility ever increasing she was signed up by the Special Bookings Division at top London modelling agency, Select Models as well as being the face of Dublin Fashion Festival in association with Samsung!

“The Dublin Fashion Festival is a celebration of style in Dublin Town and all that it has to offer through its retail and social elements. This year we have lots of activity planned for you around town, day and night. An extensive schedule of DFF events can be found in this Look Book, and full details can be found on the newly revamped www.DFF.ie. With on-street fashion shows each day, great in-store events, two amazing evening shows, the Samsung Young Designer of the year and the Creative Quarter Fashion show, an exclusive fashion movie screening and the DFF by Night Fashion Parade, Dublin Town is the place to shop and socialise from Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th of September. This is your city, and this is your festival, so come into town and enjoy it”.

Clyde Carroll Festival Director

Jules Fallon Owner & MD 1st Option Models Management Stylist & Fashion Director

8

Jules Fallon, founder and MD of 1st Option Models Management and production, has 28 years experience in the business, covering all realms from retail consultant, creative director, fashion stylist and producer. She juggles many events and loves it. Jules has been the creative fashion director of DFF for the past four years and is back and ready to embrace the fashion trends from the international catwalks. This will be a show that you will not want to miss and will be unforgettable! Here are her 2013 themes: THE SQUARE ROUTE: Colour drenched checks, bright blanket weaves, hounds tooth knits, twinset tweeds and laundry bag squares with a witty modern charm breathing life into traditional tartans. WOMAN’S REALM: This A/W pays tribute to the womanly charms with a hint of femme fatale whilst sleek and polished. ANIMAL HOUSE: The catwalks mimic a jungle scene while designers embrace all manner of hides, skins and pelts this season even print and pattern go animal. METALLIC BY NIGHT: Think sparkles that shimmer but do not shout. “I love fashion in this city and I hope you enjoy it”

WOMEN’S REALM This Autumn/Winter pays tribute to the womanly charms with a hint of Femme Fatale, whilst sleek and polished. Expect neat mid-century silhouettes that really speak to the female form, boasting grown-up hourglass curves, cinched waists, breast-hugging bodices and skirts that flare out ever so softly rounded hips. Key shapes are negligee-style slip dresses, skirts being full and flared, pleated or fitted mid length paired with a deep V, or off the shoulder top or even an elegant flowing blouse. Throw on an oversized coat plus accessories for a grown up look.

ANIMAL HOUSE The catwalks mimic a jungle scene while designers embrace all manner of hides, skins and pelts this season. Even print and pattern go animal. Leopard print goes oldschool sexy with an injection of Rock’n’Roll glamour. Pony adds a luxurious sheen while croc decorates everything from leather, knits and silky shifts. For a little luxurious drama, throw on a fur for either a day or night look.
