Accelerated Leadership Experience (ALX)
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Accelerated Leadership Experience (ALX) is an immersive leadership development program designed for new to mid-level managers, focused on refining leadership skills and preparing participants for future success. Through experiential activities and classroom sessions in a supportive cohort environment, participants forge connections, explore their leadership styles, and learn strategies to lead others and communicate effectively
Placing a heavy emphasis on self-awareness and self-management as a key foundation for effective leadership, Participants emerge from the Accelerated Leadership Experience equipped with a comprehensive leadership toolkit, poised to navigate the complexities of managing complex teams and initiatives with confidence and clarity
FORMAT & CADENCE
ALX is offered twice a year, once in the Fall, and once in the Spring. Each Cohort is broken into 3 sessions:
Session 1: Three-Day Mountain Retreat
Location: The Nature Place, Florissant, CO
Session 2: 3 Half-Day, Friday Sessions
Location: Zoom
Session 3: Graduation Ceremony
Location: University of Denver (DU)

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
ALX is a five-week program focused on the following learning outcomes:
Articulate and understand the role of a leader in an organization.
Increase self-awareness and one’s impact as a leader.
Incorporate new tools to develop high performing teams.
Recognize the value of inclusion in the workplace and how to create an inclusive culture
Apply relevant management and leadership theories, styles, and strategies.
Effectively reframe and refocus challenging situations.
Expand communication skills specific to effective listening, building trust, addressing conflict, and influence.
Accelerate the development of your team through effective feedback and coaching
Create and articulate a personal philosophy of leadership.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The Accelerated Leadership Experience is designed for mid level managers looking to expand their impact and refine their leadership skills. It gives participants a unique environment to cross-examine business challenges with a cohort of learners that bring varying perspectives. Participants come from a mix of industries and backgrounds, but are at a similar stage in their careers, allowing for empathetic and dynamic collaboration within cohorts.
ABOUT OUR FACULTY
KAREN COLLINS
Karen is a triple-certified Executive Leadership and Mental Wellness Coach through the International Coaching Federation, Co-Active Training Institute and Lyra Health. With over 15 years of leadership and change management experience, Karen is in high demand for her interactive, thought-provoking approach to leadership.
BRIAN ELIZARDI
Brian J Elizardi is an experienced education leader with over 20 years of private and public sector experience in fundraising, corporate engagement and leadership development excellence gained in public and private universities He serves as adjunct faculty member in the Daniels College of Business and the Director of Community Impact and Innovation at CSU Spur.
Bo specializes in organizational development with focus on learning and talent management, strategic and cultural alignment, and operationalizing performance management programs. Bo works with clients on solutions related to team chartering, conflict resolution, change management, and conscious inclusion.

WHAT IS EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING?
Experiential learning is a key component of the Accelerated Leadership Experience. For one, a memorable, shared experience strengthens connections among members of a cohort of learners. But more importantly, learning experiences expand upon classroom curriculum and provide pathways for leaders to apply their takeaways to real world situations and challenges.
ORIENTEERING
Orienteering serves as a powerful experiential learning tool that not only enhances participants' navigation skills but also cultivates essential leadership attributes such as decision-making, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience
HIGH ROPES COURSES
High ropes courses develop a variety of leadership skills: participants must work together to manage risk, communicate effectively, and build trust with their teammates. Individuals can choose to lead from the ground, or complete the course themselves. Negotiating obstacles at height requires problemsolving, confidence, and adaptability, while leading peers through the course encourages deliberate decision-making, clear communication, and delegation.
