Beyond Equality

This term, all male students from Year 8 to 12 participate in a workshop led by Beyond Equality. The workshop introduces boys to ideas around masculinity - and how that shapes them and their world. From here, our focus is on how being socialised as a boy may affect their mental health and relationships. It also explored the concept of masculinity, allowing our boys the space to think and reflect on what masculinity is, where it comes from and what it does to and for men, women and non-binary people in our society. The workshop was designed to start conversations about these important topics in an accessible, friendly, and safe way.

Split Banana

On the 12 January all female students from Year 8 to 12 participated in a workshop led by Split Banana. Split Banana is an organisation which helps young people to build healthy relationships with their minds, their bodies and each other. The workshop's focus was body image and allowed students the time to reflect on the external pressures that affect the way they feel about their bodies. We looked at how beauty ideals are highly political and how we can challenge them. We also discussed how to build gratitude for our bodies and share some practical steps.
