RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Intern - Part Time/Remote Sky Spirit Studio + Consulting | Vancouver

I work closely with lead designer Sierra Tasi Baker to prepare reports, renders, and design proposals for landscape and urban design projects across Vancouver that centre Indigenous design protocol and traditional land management techniques, including the West End Waterfront project. I utilize my full skillset of the Adobe Suite to create emotive, authentic stories and graphics to accompany our research.

PROFILE

I am a landscape designer, recent graduate of the UBC Master of Landscape Architecture program, and freelance visual artist with over ten years prior experience in geographic analytics, sustainable building, woodworking, and instruction. Professionally, my approach often mirrors that of systems thinking in an attempt to balance the complexity and interwoven natures of spatial equity, climate adaptation, decarbonization, regeneration, and placemaking. I am deeply committed to research and learning, and I seek to unearth latent, natural systems and histories bringing about a more authentic narrative of, and thus connection to, place. Likewise, I remain hopeful about the role landscape architecture can play in fortifying our relationships with the land and each other and am dedicated to becoming a leading, unifying voice in contemporary practice. I bring pragmatism, precision, innovation, and empathy to my work, and I hold no greater honour than in creating safe spaces of resilience and reverie for others.

INTERESTS

I speak decent Spanish after years of backpacking, volunteering, and living in Central America. I love watercolour, Simon & Garfunkel, Sam Cooke, and backcountry camping. I am an avid woodworker, furniture maker, and novice photographer. I always peek at the crossword answers, and in my downtime, you can find me at the beach, weaving fibre-art projects, planning my next trek, or (most likely) lying on the floor petting the dog.
