Harvest Art in the Park • Toddlers, Preschool, Elementary Celebrate the bounty of the season with stories, art, and play at Norton Park! Join us for a storytime at 10:00 am followed by outdoor play time with Parks and Recreation, featuring messy fruit and veggie art! Drop in anytime before 12:00 PM for art and play. Adventure Book Club •Adults

Join us for a book discussion and optional low-impact hike in one of Duluth's beautiful parks. We will meet at Chester Park to discuss Hudson Bay Bound, by Natalie Warren. Following in the steps of the 1935 Eric Sevaried classic, Canoeing with the Cree, Warren and her friend Ann Raiho paddle 2,000 miles in this spellbinding travelogue. Participants will compete to find a treasure hidden on library grounds while learning map-reading and orienteering basics! We will also go over knot-tying skills and learn how to use cattails to craft a visor for sun protection or a mat for sleeping. Geared for kids in grades 3-7.

Create the best, or perhaps, the worst art that you can imagine (Who are we to judge?) with lots of available supplies and watch Dune (2021, rated PG-13, 155 minutes). Get ready for the Duluth-Superior Pride Festival 2023 at the Main Library! This is an open craft session with supplies to make earrings, bracelets, and even tutus; while supplies last. Folks of Duluth: Pride Art Exhibit and Reception •

All Ages

Stop by the Main Library to see the photography exhibit, Folks of Duluth, and meet the artist, Max Grunner. The show will be on display from Thursday, August 31 to Saturday, October 14 in the Local History Center on the Main Library’s second floor. Brunner walks the streets of Duluth, camera in hand, to hear stories and take photos of subjects, approaching them with a disarming question: “What do you love about yourself?”

Drag Storytime • All Ages

Join us at the Main Library to celebrate self-expression, dressup, and gender fluidity through stories, rhymes, music and movement with a drag performer from our own community! This is a safe and encouraging space for children and caregivers to have fun and express themselves. The drag performer is from Zenith City Horror, a local queer entertainment company that specializes in producing drag shows, theatrical performances, and community events that inspire and create safe space for all.
