From our Head of College Dear Parents and Guardians, May is Mental Health Awareness Month and today, our students across the school had a morning (Primary School) and an afternoon (Senior School) dedicated to wellbeing. Students were engaged in various activities including yoga, clay play, sports, art and singing together, to name a few. We continue to welcome parents for fun events such as Donuts with Dads and Sports Day. We had a nice sendoff for our Year 6 teacher, Ms Katherine Dark, who’s going on maternity leave and we wish her the very best. With June just around the corner, we have a series of upcoming events to share. While pared down to a smaller scale as we slowly reopen, Founder’s Day/Jubilee Celebration promises to be a fun day filled with games, music and a taste of global cuisine thanks to more than 20 countries represented by our parents who volunteered to bring food from their countries. I would like to thank members of the Friends of Dulwich (FoD) for helping to decorate our campus with Jubilee paraphernalia (the Queen herself has made an appearance near the MPR) and for parent reps and all the parents and staff who are working tirelessly to ensure our students have a wonderful experience on Founder’s Day. I’d also like to thank the British Deputy Ambassador, Nikesh Mehta, for agreeing to be a judge on the Founder’s Day bake-off. I had the privilege of attending a reception celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee hosted by H.E. British Ambassador to Korea Colin Crooks last night. The event was lovely and the group of guests were stunned by a sudden, unexpected appearance by the global K-pop sensation Blackpink, who are official advocates for COP 26, the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference. However, the most remarkable thing about the evening was Ambassador Crooks’ impeccable Korean, which he spoke interchangeably with English during his speech. I’m pleased to invite you to hear from him directly about his trajectory of being named ambassador to the two Koreas back to back.
Our final Dulwich Talk on 9 June will feature Ambassador Crooks as a guest speaker and students will be joining the audience for the first time since the reboot. We’re looking forward to welcoming his insightful talk and discussion with students and parents. We expect the event to fill up quickly so please RSVP soon! See flyer in the Whole School section of the e-update for details. I hope you have a restful weekend. With my best wishes, Mr Gudmundur Hegner Jonsson Head of College
Whole School iSAMS Archived Report Card Access Please be advised that report cards from previous terms are not currently available on the new iSAMS platform. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to upload historical report cards for parents to access. Due to the sheer volume of report cards, we will prioritise those of Year 13 students and those of leavers in all year groups throughout the College. We aim to complete the uploading of historical report cards for this segment of students by 17 June. The rest of the students will be able to access their historical report cards beginning next Academic Year 2022-2023 in August. If you need immediate access to your child’s historical report cards, please contact our registrar at registrar@dulwich-seoul.kr. We respectfully ask that you make such a request only in case of an emergency as the report cards will be available to all parents in the next academic year. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move toward a better system to access your child’s school information.

Introducing The Ambassador Platform app on our website We are pleased to let you know we’ve launched our pilot of The Ambassador Platform (TAP) chatting app on our website this week. The TAP app allows prospective parents to chat with current parents and admissions staff to answer any questions they may have about what school life will be for their children. We have added pop-up cards on the homepage, Admissions and Friends of Dulwich pages that direct visitors to the TAP page. We hope that The Ambassador Platform will connect prospective parents to our community of parents. Please take a moment to thank our parent Ambassadors including FoD co-chairs Vicky Lemmens, and Helena Kim, and PS parent reps Astrid, Kristine, Leanne and Karem when you see them. And thanks to Eugene and Mina at the Admissions Team for being our Staff Ambassador!

Mental Health Awareness day at DCSL - today
Students from Nursery to Seniors were involved in activities and learning to help them feel good, make social connections and learn more about good mental health. The last couple of years have been tough on many children and young people and these events help children understand the importance of a healthy mind, and
how to help themselves and seek help from others. The events were led by our House Leaders and included sports, art and singing together.
Babies at Dulwich College Seoul Ms Dark went off on maternity leave this week after a lovely send off by her thoughtful class parents and students. Senior School Mental Health Awareness Afternoon
This afternoon’s Enrichment session was dedicated to mental health, with students having the opportunity to participate in a range of activities that help students to relax, unwind and take their mind off the pressures of Senior School for a bit. Sessions included: An Introduction to Yoga - This short session introduced students to the many benefits of yoga, which include improved strength, balance, flexibility, relaxation and sleep.
Clay Play - Students were encouraged to get creative with clay. Working with clay can have enormous therapeutic benefits. Levels of the stress hormone, cortisol, have been known to lower when playing with, moulding and squeezing clay. Indoor Relaxation - Students were encouraged to find a way to relax in the library - reading, listening to music or taking a nap. (I know which activity I would have chosen at the end of a busy week!) Outdoor Relaxation - Again, students were given the opportunity to choose how they wanted to spend their time - playing T-ball, chatting with friends in the shade, or exploring the green area on the field.
I hope students enjoyed the sessions and found an activity they can use in the future to help them to unwind.
Senior School Examinations The end of the exam season is in sight. There are just three IGCSE exams left for Year 11, so they will probably be planning for their long summer vacation in between revision sessions. Year 12 have been sitting their end of year exams this week, and Year 10 exams begin on Monday. Good luck to all who still have exams to sit.
Queen’s Jubilee Fair You will have received details of our combined Founder’s Day and Jubilee Fair, which is happening on Friday 3 June. Decorations have already started to appear around the College campus and it promises to be a fantastic occasion. Students are encouraged to dress up for the day around the theme of ‘Royalty. They will enjoy food from around the world, games booths, performances from our talented musicians, and much more.
Best wishes for a relaxing weekend.
Ms Sarah Harrison Head of Senior School
ESWS illustration project
As part of this year's ESWS illustration project our year 10 GCSE Art & Design students are creating artworks celebrating the role of Foster Parents that care for children at ESWS. We welcomed staff from ESWS to our class to provide insightful feedback to our students in their project preparation and to guide and direct the students in shaping their design brief and artistic response. As designers we are challenged to respond to the needs of the ESWS community to provide artwork that aims to celebrate, provide insight and raise awareness of the role of Foster Parents. The visit was a wonderful opportunity for us to collaborate with some really hard working professionals in our community.
Hockey
There are many types of hockey, some say over 20 (unconfirmed) but the Year 7’s are focussing on ‘uni-hoc’. It’s a fast-moving invasion game! Although the principles are the same as sports such as basketball, football, quidditch and netball, the skills set is different, as students now have a stick with which to do their bidding. Being able to move the puck quickly is essential. Here we see the students fully engaged in the match.
Did you know a puck regularly travels at over 100 kilometres per hour? Of course you didn’t!
Students and staff are encouraged to dress up for Founders’ Day - our theme is ‘Royalty’ (interpret the theme anyway you like!). Students may wear a single colour, accessory or come decked out from head to toe! Founder’s Day Retro/1950’s “School Dinner”

Friends of Dulwich
We are pleased to announce that there will be a ‘Used Books Donation Drive’ from 30 May to 17 June. If you have any gently used books (English books only) that you no longer need, please donate them! We will place collections bins by the College entrance and foyer for easy access. Friends of Dulwich members will sort the books and hold a used book sale at the beginning of the next Academic Year in August 2022. Thank you for your participation!
International Cooking Class Our parent community had a great time learning how to make delicious Danish cuisine this week. Here are some photos from the cooking class.
