DUNCAN LIVESTOCK PROSPECT STEER AND HEIFER SALE, PART 5 Welcome to the Duncan Livestock Prospect Steer and Heifer Sale. We are offering our 17 best commercial calves. No calves have been sold prior to the sale. We would like to thank our buyers from our 2012 sale. Austin & Ian Drake (2), C&C Livestock (Ford & MacQuarrie Families), Glenn Jay, Irwin Jay of I F J Farms, Andrew & Tracey McIntosh, Jeffery & Nena Matheson (2), Spud Island Farms, (the Sanderson Family) (2), Bidding Process All bids are to be in $50 increments. The bidding process for all cattle runs as a silent auction until a 5 minute warning is given on the animal that sells first and so on. The first lot to sell will be the animal that has the highest price at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 7th. If there is a tie in the price, the animal which is the oldest will sell first. During the final 5 minutes, all bidders can continue to bid on any animal still for sale. After 5 minutes is up, those buyers only with bids in the silent auction on the designated lot will be asked to come forward if they wish to continue bidding in a live bid off for those bidders only. For example on paper, buyer # 100 bid $800 on lot 50, then buyer # 200 bid $850, buyer # 300 bid $900, and before the end of the 5 minute warning, buyer # 400 bids $950. We would then ask buyer #s 100, 200, 300, and 400 to come forward for the live bid off. The first option would go to the first bid taken from buyer # 100 for $1000, then next to buyer # 200 for $1050 and so on in $50 increments until one buyer is left who has agreed to the top price. If you have any questions, let us know. Bidders have the option when it is their turn to increase the bidding increment by more than $50. All steers will sell first followed by the heifers. For those purchasing heifers, please keep in mind all heifers have TH carriers in their pedigree. We recommend breeding them to purebred Angus or Red Angus calving ease bulls. Genex has calving ease bulls that are sexed as well like Big Sky (Red), Bismarck, Front Range, Right Answer, and Thunder. All calves were weaned in late July. All calves were vaccinated with modified live Pyramid 5 with Presponse and Tasvax 8. All calves were treated with Bimectin and Ivomec at different times during the year. The most recent treatment was on August 24th. CCIA age verification birth certificates are available on all calves upon request.
October 2013-2014 Calves We are very excited about our next set of calves which will start arriving late in October. Our next calf crop will be sired by Boardwalk, Eye Candy, Mercedes Benz, Monopoly, Ohio Senator, Thriller, Unstoppable, and Walks Alone. We have also bred 4 heifers sired by Boardwalk and Eye Candy to the Genex calving ease sire, Connealy Right Answer 746. We used sexed male semen on each of these heifers and hope to have these steer calves as part of our sale next year. After a year of not breeding
any females purebred Angus we have bred 5 purebred Angus females using sexed female Bismarck and Right Answer.
