Crowds flock to Fitzer’s 5k

The race which is organised by local TD Peter

Fitzpatrick was started to try and help local services which provide vital services and over the last 10+ years many thousands have been raised to help out organisations like the maria Goretti Foundation Respite centre and Rehab care Dundalk centre.

The race always proves popular given it’s town centre location with the race starting and finishing at the marshes Shopping centre. The course is also a flat one which makes for fast times for the more serious runner. This year’s race was won by Sean

Tobin from clonmel a c in a time of 14:31. The first local home was Donnchadh macaodha from the North east Runners in a time of 15:37 with his teammate Declan Toal just eight seconds behind in fifth spot. The ultra consistent Laura Mathews was first lady home in a time of 18:43 for her club North east Runners.
