He wants to set a better example for his children and stop worrying his wife, who is a nurse, and very concerned about Mark’s weight. Mark helped to set up an Operation Transformation group in Togher last year and had to get through a gruelling selection process for the show. “I didn’t expect to get chosen. I applied last October and it felt like I was buying a lottery ticket. It’s fantastic to have been chosen. You couldn’t buy the support you get. We have access to the best brains in the country,” he said. “I’ve one week done. We set weekly targets. Last week the goal was to lose 5lbs. I’m sticking to the food plan and exercising. I was out walking last night with the local community group Operation Togher Nation. “There are about 60 or 70 in the group. There’s

a great buzz now. Everyone has been so supportive. The hardest part is finding the time for cooking the meals and exercising as I was already very busy before starting the programme but I feel very positive and I’m 100 per cent committed to it.” Viewers can tune in to watch Mark’s progress over the next seven weeks on RTE One on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8.30pm.

Speed surveys begin in town Mark with his fellow participants and RTE presenter, Kathryn Thomas

THE speed of motorists at various locations in the Dundalk area will be recorded on road speed monitoring equipment over the coming months. Following a query from Cllr Mark Dearey about speed surveys at a Municipal District of Dundalk meeting, it was revealed that there are plans to conduct speed surveys in the town up until next March. It is proposed to carry out speed surveys at various locations during the period December 2014 to March 2015 when McSwiney St can be surveyed. When Cllr Dearey asked if he could be provided with dates for

speed monitoring on the Cooley upland roads, he was told that the local authority would not be recommending a speed survey be carried out at this location. The Cooley uplands roads are rural roads with a default speed limit of 80kph. However, drivers are legally required to drive at a speed suitable for the road geometry. The local authority stated that regardless of the results of the speed survey, it would not be recommending a reduced speed limit in such an area as “such a limit would most probably never be enforced by the Gardai”.

Work starts on new Marist school

Dundalk Leader 14th January 2015

By Paul Byrne

Work has begun on a state of the art new school building for St Mary’s College on St Mary’s Road. With accommodation for up to 900 pupils, the new St Mary’s College postprimary school will have 29 specialist classrooms for subjects including technology, construction studies, home economics and design and communication graphics, while there will also be a learning support room. There will be a library, purpose-built science laboratories, a music/drama room with staging area, over 20 general classrooms and a physical education hall with changing and fitness suites. The plans also include a general purpose hall as well as catering, staff offices and other ancillary space. School principal Con McGinley admits staff and pupils won’t know themselves when they move into their new surroundings in 2016.

Shane Cheshire, Con McGinley and Grace Donnelly at the new school site

“The builders arrived last Monday and it’s all systems go now. We have been told that the new school will be completed by March or April 2016 and we’re even looking into the idea of letting next year’s Sixth Year students sit their exams in the new school hall”, noted the St Mary’s College principal. “In basic terms, the new school building will mean that the boys and girls who attend St Mary’s College will have access to the very

best of modern school accommodation. We will also be able to provide a greater subject choice and cater more fully to a wider range of learning styles and abilities. This idea was first mooted probably about eight years ago and it is testament to the whole school community and the support we have always enjoyed in Dundalk that we see the building getting underway this week”, he added. “Where we are now, the buildings are very

Congestion issue being tackled CONGESTION and accidents caused by parking both sides of the road from Marshes Shopping Centre to the new Tesco store is to be tackled. Louth County Council (LCC) has said that the traffic management issue at Marshes Road needs to be addressed, particularly at the roundabout. Cllr Maeve Yore and Cllr Peter Savage raised the issue at a Municipal District of Dundalk meeting on December 2 last and proposed that the Council install double yellow lines immediately to prohibit parking both sides of the road leading to congestion or accidents. LCC Senior Engineer Gerry Kelly presented the Operations, Infrastructure and

Marine Progress Report and addressed the councillors’ queries. The report for the month of November stated that parking at this location does need to be addressed, particularly at the roundabout. It recommended that double yellow lines be installed on the south-east side of the road, thus allowing parking on one side only. The report added that double yellow lines also need to be installed at the roundabouts. The Director of Services noted that there is a long stay local authority car park facility at the Ramparts which is underused. The councillors requested that any opportunities in this regard be investigated.

old with part of the school dating back to the 18th Century. Given that the building is so old it is a listed building and that means that we were hampered with regards to upgrading and improving the school. Building a new school was the obvious solution and all of us, staff and pupils, won’t know ourselves when we make the move next year. It’s an exciting time for St Mary’s college and I look forward to the completion of our new school next year”, concluded Con. External works will provide five ball courts, GAA playing and training pitches, covered bicycle racks, landscaping and 65 car parking spaces. The project is to be delivered through a Public Private Partnership on the site of the existing school which will continue to operate during the 18-month construction period. Barring any hiccups the new school will be ready for classes to commence in September 2016.

The Old Dundalk Society

The Old Dundalk Society, as part of their ongoing Golden Jubilee Celebrations, is delighted to announce a Golden Jubilee Celebration Dinner to be held on Wednesday January 28 in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk. Admission to this event is by ticket only. Tickets cost €35 and may be purchased from Connell & Co. Drapers, 5 Church St. The evening will commence with a 4 Course Gala Dinner followed by an after dinner lecture by Paul Gosling (Archaeologist). Michael Gaynor President of the Society would encourage ‘Society’ members and friends to support the event and celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Old Dundalk Society. A ‘Dundalk’ night of reminiscence and nostalgia is guaranteed. Michael would be delighted if those attending the evening would share some of their own favourite Dundalk memories. A limited number of The Old Dundalk Society Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medals will be available to purchase on the night.

in Brief Louth’s loss

Louth GAA lost one of its 1957 All-Ireland winning stars this week with the passing of the legendary Dan O’Neill in Galway. ‘Danno’ was a native of Mayo but transferred to Louth when he was a Garda stationed in Drogheda. O’Neill lined out in midfield throughout Louth’s successful campaign and played a leading role in helping the Wee County win the Sam Maguire Cup. Although he moved to Galway in the 1960s, Danno remained a loyal supporter of Louth teams.

Rugby win Dundalk Rugby Club maintained their lead at the top of the Leinster League thanks to a 41-19 win over Clondalkin on Saturday. Ultan Murphy opened the scoring from a penalty, while tries from Jonathan Williams, Mike Bentley and Thomas Campbell had Dundalk 22-6 ahead at the break. Campbell added his second try just after the restart, while James McConnon and Owen McNally also crossed the line to complete the win.

Beyond Beauty

Realt na Mara impress By Paul Byrne

Realt na Mara Sixth Class students impressed the judges at this year’s RDS Primary School Science Fair with their interesting experiment which asked the question ‘Does one bad apple spoil the lot?’ The project which took place under the guidance of their teacher Síle Holland was a labour of love for the students who all enjoyed taking time to find the answer to the age old question. The students put one mouldy apple into a bowl with some good apples and proceeded to monitor the starch levels over a number of days by using an iodine solution. After many tests

Realt na Mara pupils impressed at the science fair

and checking the colour of the fruit against a ripening chart the pupils concluded that yes indeed a bad apple does spoil the lot. Síle congratulated the students on their ef-

forts in completing the project and revealed that the judges in the RDS had been very impressed by the pupils project. “The class got on great at the RDS primary science fair on Saturday

and their project ‘Does one bad apple spoil the bunch?’ generated a lot of interest from the public”, noted Síle. “Each pupil got a chance to man the stand and talk to the public about their investigations and we were delighted with the feedback from the judging panel which read ‘their predicting, measuring and recording and display of their results were excellent … a very enjoyable and enthusiastic group of students and a great project’“, added the proud Sixth Class teacher. The pupils were delighted to receive a trophy for their efforts which will be displayed proudly in Realt na Mara.

Man was banging head on shop window A man who went for food after a New Year’s Eve night out, told Dundalk District Court that he had very little memory of being abusive to Gardai. As a result of the incident on Park St at 4.40am, Aaron McArdle, 51 Aghameen Park, Muirhevnamor, Dundalk, appeared at Dundalk District Court where he pleaded guilty to three public order charges. The court heard that in the early hours of New Year’s Day, Gardai came across the defendant and observed him

banging his head off the window of a takeaway outlet. He took a beer can out of a bag and became aggressive to Gardai. He refused instructions to leave and used expletives in abusing Gardai. Solicitor, Dermot Monahan, remarked that the man described in evidence was very different to the man he met in court that morning. “He went out on New Year’s Eve and went back for food but he has very little memory

of the incident. He lost his job before Christmas and is very ashamed of what happened on the night”, added the solicitor who stated that his client doesn’t usually drink. He asked the court for one final chance. Judge Flann Brennan stated that the incident did not represent a great start to the year as he applied the Probation Act. “Be careful how much you drink and mind your own business are the golden rules” added the judge.

Rachael designed the ‘brap’ having noticed many boxers complain of wrist injuries and

decided to try and come up with a better system to prevent these injuries. “I used to box myself when I was younger and I noticed how common wrist injuries are in the sport. The common method of treating wrist injuries involves wrapping the wrist with bandages but I thought I could make something that gave a bit more support and was a bit less restrictive and I came up with the brap“, explains Rachael. “It’s comfortable to wear and according to my analysis it slightly increases punching force and reduces down time as a result of injuries” she says. Rachael’s brap was given the seal of approval from none other than Irish boxing legend Katie Taylor this week with her father and coach Peter claiming that the wrist strap was the best his daughter has ever used. “Katie’s Dad, Peter, rang me during the week and said that he wanted to buy the brap off me as Katie said it was the best wrist

Elsewhere there was success in the technological category as Colaiste Rís student Conor Begley claimed second prize in the Senior Individual category with his project entitled ‘QuickCom - A communication aid for the physically disabled’. Conor is a Young Scientist veteran having represented his school on numerous occasions impressing the judges each time with his innovative designs. Railway legend James celebrates 90th birthday

SALE NOW ON!

By Paul Byrne

One of the last surviving steam train drivers celebrated his 90th birthday last week in Carlingford almost 75 years after he first joined the railway. James Coburn was born in Emer Terrace on December 22, 1924 and joined the Great Northern Railway when he was just 16 thanks to his uncle James ‘Juker’ Coburn a local Fine Gael TD who put a good word in for him. He started off cleaning engines for the grand sum of 21 shillings a week starting work at 6am and finishing at 2. After years of cleaning, James moved on to firing the engines before passing his examination to become a driver. And as James fondly remembers it was a call from his clerk Billy Armstrong which signalled his first day as a train driver. “Eventually about 1952, I became a driver. It went with seniority; the next man got the

James Coburn celebrating with Agnes Coburn and daughter Una McFadden

chance. Billy Armstrong, the clerk, would tell you that you were going up for driving on a Monday and you got a day off firing. You went into the office and you wrote answers to questions all about engines and you had to learn platforms and you had to push the engine out to the West Cabin before working the engine through the square crossing.” recalled James. James worked in Dublin for a spell before returning to Dundalk

where he drove a goods train from Dundalk to Clones setting off at 4:50 in the morning from Barrack St. James married Agnes in 1954 and went to Cork on their honeymoon free of charge on the railway. After spending 18 months in Dublin driving railcars to Howth, James was back in Dundalk before heading back to Inchicore in 1958 to learn the diesels. It was around this time that lines all around the country began shutting down due to

spiralling costs. James career as a driver ended after he had a heart attack but he recovered and returned to work as a charge hand six months later. He retired just six months short of his 65th birthday and is currently residing in Carlingford nursing home. Last week James celebrated his 90th birthday in style with wife Agnes and a host of family and friends who helped ensure it was a day to remember.

a three-year sentence for assault imposed on October 10, and he had pleaded guilty to the offences as far back as December 2013. He pointed out that the 24-year-old had completed his Junior Certificate before starting a painting apprenticeship. However, the economic downturn meant there was no work available and it was after finding he had time on his hands that he started coming to the attention of the courts. “Most offences are due to alcohol. He struggles with alcohol and

has never got to grips with it while at liberty. He is now attending counselling in Mountjoy and has secured employment in the fabric workship”, added Mr MacGuill who said his client apologised. Judge Flann Brennan imposed a 10 month sentence in respect of the criminal damage charges, four months for assault and two months for the charges of threatening and a abusive behaviour. All sentences were concurrent and other matters were taken into consideration.

Successful Netwell Dementia Initiative

A unique new venue for people with memory loss and their families has proved very successful over the past three months. The Netwell Dementia Café, which opened its doors in September 2014, is based at Ruby’s Vintage-Style Tearooms in Williamson’s Mall, Dundalk and is open from 6pm to 8pm every third Thursday of the month. This new monthly initiative is designed to bring memory loss and dementia into the community. “The Netwell Dementia Café is based on the concept of the Alzheimer’s Cafés, which generally open for about two hours a month, but is aimed at all people with memory loss”, said co-ordinator Ann Marron from the Netwell Centre. “At the moment, most of the Alzheimer’s or dementia cafés around the country are held in healthrelated premises such as day care centres or HSE facilities”, said Ann. “We wanted to link with an age-friendly business such as Ruby’s Vintage-Style Tea Rooms and bring the subject into the community, further reducing the stigma around dementia.” Ruby’s has been working together with Ann throughout the year to implement age-friendly and dementia-awareness training for their staff. “The café nights will give information to people with memory loss or early dementia and their families and list all available and appropriate services. The café will also identify a link person for families to help them connect with the relevant services. “This is very important because many services can only be accessed with a consultant’s diagnosis and most people with dementia do not have a diagnosis, so it can be very difficult for families. We really want families to know that they can access information at an early stage through the Netwell Dementia Café and that we can advise them on the upcoming dementia pathway for County Louth”, Ann continued. “Our Dementia Café is very popular and is well attended each month by families, carers, PHNs, GPs and people living with memory loss”, added the coordinator. Guest speakers to date have included Olive Joyce, ASI, local GPs, Dr Sarah O’Brien and Dr Grace Kenny and Dr Olwyn Lynch, Consultant Geriatrician for Louth. Each presentation is very informative and feedback is very positive. The next Netwell Dementia Café is on Thursday January 15 from 6pm to 8pm when local solicitor Catherine MacGinley who will be speaking on legal matters arising from

Stephen Kenny wins personality of the year By Paul Byrne

An emotional Stephen Kenny was named SWAI personality of the year for 2014 on Saturday evening on the same day that his father Michael passed away. The Dundalk FC manager dedicated the award to his late father during an emotional acceptance speech after he won the annual soccer writers award. This was the sixth time Kenny had been nominated for the prize but the first time he had come out on top. He thanked his players, backroom staff and everybody involved with the club for helping him during his time at Dundalk. It’s been a remarkable turnaround for the Dubliner who was unceremoniously sacked by Shamrock Rovers just over two years ago

before rebuilding his reputation by leading Dundalk to a league title last October. Stephen is the fifth Dundalk player/manager to win the prestigious award following in the footsteps of club legends Jim McLaughlin,

Tommy McConville, Terry Eviston and Peter Hanrahan. Earlier in the week Kenny delighted Dundalk supporters by signing a two year contract with the club. Meanwhile it has been revealed that Dundalk FC paid a total of

over €21,000 in fines in 2014 in what is a continuing problem for the club. The biggest fine was handed out by UEFA after fans in the shed end of Oriel Park flew a Palestinian flag during the club’s Europa League clash against Hajduk Split last summer. The initial fine had been €18,000 but was reduced to €15,000 on appeal. The remaining €6,125 in fines was paid to the FAI mainly for the continued for the lighting of flares as well as pitch invasions during the season. The club have continuously issued appeals to supporters to stop lighting flares at matches and although there had been improvements towards the end of last season the flares were out in force during the final league game against Cork in October.

December 21 last year. The court heard that at 3.25am he was highly intoxicated and aggressive towards Gardai. He was asked to leave the Park Street area a number of times, but refused to do so. Solicitor, Niall Lavery, stated that his 20-year-old client, who lives with his mother, accepts that he was intoxicated

and became involved in an incident that didn’t concern him. He added that although Mr Mallon had received an adult caution, he had no previous convictions, and asked the court to give him a chance. In finding the facts proven and dismissing the case, Judge Flann Brennan warned the de-

fendant that he would not be given another chance. “I will say to you what I say to many people – mind your own business and be careful about how much you drink. I will give you one last opportunity but if you do it again you will have a conviction and all the consequences that go with it”, stated the judge.

Told to mind his own business A man was warned to mind his own business and be careful about how much he has to drink after he became involved in a late night altercation. Paul Mallon of 30 Glenmore Park, Muirhevnamor, Dundalk, admitted a number of public order charges when he appeared at Dundalk District Court following an incident on

Cooley Genealogical and Historical Society are commencing a project to create memorial books in relation to cemeteries at Cill Mhuire, Boher and Grange. The purpose of this exercise is to find people who are not listed on the headstones but are known to family members. Everybody is welcome to come to a meeting in February, 2015, to discuss the project and submit family dead. Most of the dead are long forgotten but there are at least three to four generations who could be recorded. It is then up to the family concerned whether they would like to have their family included in the Memorial Books. The end result will be to link up all families so that everybody is recorded. If the programme were finished, it would link each family to extended families and the process could be carried on for future generations. People could also be linked to family plots in Carlingford, Newtown and Omeath. For information call, 0851833110.

RehabCare News Man thought he was okay to in seek help with drive after two or three drinks VigilBrief For Adrian fashion show A Dundalk man who thought he was okay to drive after having two or three drinks ended up being disqualified from driving after coming to the attention of Gardai and pleading guilty to a charge of drink driving. David McCarthy of 247 Cedarwood Park, Cox’s Demesne, also pleaded guilty to a charge of driving without insurance when he appeared at Dundalk District Court following the incident on November 5, 2013. The court heard that Mr McCarthy was seen driving in an erratic manner

on the Dublin Road, Dundalk, and a sample taken at Dundalk Garda Station revealed that he was over the limit for driving. Solicitor for the defendant stated that the 26-year-old married father of two had consumed two or three drinks in Dublin but felt he was okay to drive. The solicitor added that while his client had a bad record, it was his first time before the court on a drink driving charge. Judge Flann Brennan stated that while he hadn’t come before the court

Fresh from the success of their pre Christmas production ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ RehabCare Resource Centre are hoping to put on their very own fashion show this summer. The plan is to put on the show in June but the project is dependent on help from the local community. Sandy Sneddon a drama co-ordinator in RehabCare is hopeful that local businesses, schools, colleges and community groups can get on board to help the idea of a fashion show become a reality. “We are a group of adults with intellectual disabilities from RehabCare Resource centre in Dundalk and we want to put on our own fashion show”, explained Sandy. “It’s going to be classy, cool and colourful but we need help to get the idea up and running. We want to work with local business, media, schools colleges and community groups to show what a great place Dundalk is and how wonderful all the people who live there are”, he continued. “We want to put it on near the end of June with local shops helping out with the style, hairdressers and barbers helping us look gorgeous local media letting everybody know about it, schools and colleges helping us with the design and everyone coming together to make it a fun project and a great day out that will make a great buzz in the town. It will hopefully be a great day out which will be used to generate funds and awareness for charity”, concluded Sandy. If you think you can help and you would like to get involved please contact RehabCare Resource centre on 0429328766 or call Sandy Sneddon on Rachel Culligan, Neasa Farrell and Aoife McEneaney at the Sparkle and Shine show in Town Hall 0861290936.

on this charge, he had been for almost every other traffic offence. “He has previous for no insurance and other driving offences. He is a regular outlaw for want of a better word and he is going to lose his licence”, stated Judge Brennan. In relation to the drink driving charge, the judge imposed a €200 fine and a disqualification of three months. For driving without insurance Judge Brennan imposed 120 hours of Community Service in lieu of six months and a twoyear driving ban.

House prices on the T he latest report from property website daft. ie has shown that property prices in Louth have risen on average by 11.4% in 2014. The average selling price for a house in Co. Louth is now €170,634. Asking prices across the country fell by 1% during the final quarter of 2014, the first quarterly fall since mid-2013. The average asking price nationwide is now €193,000, compared to €171,000 a year ago and €378,000 at the peak. The report details the wide variations on the cost of different property types in Louth. A one bedroom apartment now has an asking price of around €61,000, which is an increase of 7% on the same period last year. Meanwhile a two bedroom terraced house has an asking piece of €81,000, which is up by 10%.

A typical three bed semi detached home in Louth will go on the market for an average €111,000, an increase of 9.5% on the 2013 prices. Four bedroomed bungalows are also increasing in price across Louth, with the average asking price now set at around €235,000, a rise of 11%. At the top end of the market, asking price increases have also increased but only by a small percentage. A five bedroomed property will now go on the market for €271,000, a 1.9% rise on the previous year. Ronan Lyons the author of the Daft report claims that the 1% decrease in house prices in the final quarter of 2014 was mainly down to the Central Banks proposed limits on mortgage lending. “Since the end of 2013, the expected change in house prices went from stable (0% in 2013Q4) to a 6% increase in

2014Q3, before falling back to less than 4% in 2014Q4. The fall-off in expectations in Dublin was even more dramatic”, explained Ronan. “In September, the typical respondent expected house prices to increase by 12% over the coming 12 months. By December, that had more than halved to just 5%”, he added. “This is, of course, precisely the desired effect of Central Bank limits on mortgage lending: to ensure housing remains affordable. “This is done both by limiting expectations and by more formal links between house prices and incomes and/or savings. The other main aim of housing policy – abundant housing – is beyond the Central Bank’s remit and must be a priority for the Departments of Environment and Finance”, warned the Trinity college economist.

Stored drugs in mother’s house

A 39-year-old father who had drugs for going to a festival in Waterford admitted storing the substances in his mother’s house. Mark Faulkner, of 37 Oakland Park, Dundalk, pleaded guilty to a possession charge when he appeared at Dundalk District Court. It was stated in evidence that on June 23 last year, during a search of his mother’s house, Gardai found €300 worth of cocaine and €100 worth of cannabis. The defendant admitted ownership and stated that the drugs were for personal use. The defence solicitor stated that the defendant was intending to travel to a festival in Waterford and that he regrets putting his family through this ordeal. Judge Flann Brennan adjourned the case to May 1 for a Probation Report.

TheA NewPromise Irish Musical

Dominic and Mary together in TLT Two of Ireland’s best known entertainers, Dominic Kirwan and Mary Duff, will be appearing in the TLT, Drogheda as part of an extensive tour of Ireland and the UK. The performers, who have 50 years of experience in the industry between them, will join forces in an all new show that has already been eagerly anticipated with a real step up in quality and class. Both have toured extensively over two decades, with Mary fresh from several years as special guest with Daniel O’Donnell and Dominic celebrating twenty five years as a professional recording artiste. In their own right both Mary and Dominic are already at the top of the entertainment ladder, together with a superb new five piece band they will take you on a stunning musical journey that will rekindle your love of live music. Last year marked a massive milestone in the career of Omagh singer Dominic, 25 years since the talented entertainer signed a record deal with Ritz records, 25 years on and the story continues Dominic remaining one of the most popular singers touring, performing and recording with a fan base of all ages throughout the world who enjoy his wonderful stage presence and performances. Dominic and Mary have both risen through the ranks from playing the pubs and clubs of their homeland to the cream of the UK’s concert halls and theatres. Like Dominic, Mary Duff from County Meath has been a firm favorite on stages all over the world, she has established herself in her own right after over a decade joining Daniel O’Donnell as his special guest. Mary’s career seems to go from strength to strength, and as the salutation and success continue to roll in for the genuinely charismatic and warm Irish singer, there seems little sign of the celebrated triumphs slowing down.

Over to you Question: Vox Pop: Are you for or against the idea of plastic surgery?

Oluseye Oyeniji

Kathleen McNeela

Natasha Gonnelly

I think it’s insane for people to consider getting plastic surgery. It will only give you a temporary high. It’s a superficial lift. And as well as all that it’s dangerous.

I think it’s entirely up to the person. If they think it’ll give them a lift then why not?

I think it’s a brilliant idea. It can help with self confidence and if people do it for the right reasons then it is definitely a great thing to do.

IT’S that time of year again, after the excesses of Christmas when people start to think of their waistlines. Series 8 of Operation Transformation is back on the screens every Wednesday and Thursday on RTE1 at 8.30pm. Operation Transformation has teamed up with the Irish Sports Council and the Local Sports Partnerships to organise a number of national events. The Operation Transformation National Walks take place on Saturday January 17. This year one of the five leaders chosen from the entire country is Mark McArdle from Dunleer. This year’s walk will take place in Drogheda. The walk starts at 10am leaving from The Lourdes Stadium, Boyle O’Reilly Terrace, Drogheda. Registration is from 9.30am to

9.45am. The Sports Partnership has also organised follow on walks in Dundalk and Drogheda which will run for six weeks. The walks are free and are open to all fitness levels and abilities. Following on from the walks it is hoped that new walking groups will be formed and that they will continue to meet up regularly. The walks in Dundalk will start on Thursday January 22 at 7.30. Nora McCarthy I’d be against it. I think people should leave well enough alone and learn to love who you are.

Josephine Conlon : I wouldn’t be in favour of it at all. You are who you are and you should embrace that instead of letting a surgeon mess with your face or body.
