successful wins in both the middle distance and the hurdle races. Geraldine threw the longest of all the masters throwers setting yet another World age group record in the discus throw putting to good use all she has learned from her new coach.

Geraldine wanted to finish with 400 points to make the massive breakthrough of 10,00 points. Only a few women have ever broke the 10,000 point barrier in multi events.

Geraldine stormed through the final event (3000m) with ease with 525 points smashing the highest score of all age categories with 10,125 points leaving Stephanie Brosens 8810 and Petra Bruggman 8090 in second and third for the local team of Belgium both 24 and 27 years half her age bowing to the older wiser more experienced Irish competitor.

Geraldine like everyone else has had her health issues and worries life isn’t an easy path but her message is don’t be afraid and face your fears head on then look your goal in the eye. The biggest fear one has is in your own mind. Win that battle to make the first step and it gets easier and easier. The choice is yours. Decide and results will follow.

Geraldine wishes to thank those coaches supporters and athletes who helped her achieve this World title once again they know themselves who they are.
