Dúnmasc Genetics is located on the outskirts of Portlaoise, Co. Laois, in an area known as Dunamase. Our name is derived from ‘Dunamase Castle’ or ‘The Rock of Dunamase’ which is a defensive stronghold dating back to the 12 century. Dunamase Castle is located on the Dowling family farm and towers 46 meters above the surrounding lands. ‘Dún Masc’ which is Irish for ‘Fort of Másc’, (or now the townland of Dunamase) is an area rich in heritage and history, values that form the basis of the Dúnmasc Genetics brand.

Dúnmasc Genetics was founded in 2014 by Stephen Dowling and has grown very rapidly over the last number of years. The company’s origin is in Embryo Transfer and Training Services for both the agricultural and veterinary industries. In more recent times, growth in semen sales has been exponential. Business growth can be attributed to many factors of business model innovation, team experience, exceptional customers, breeders and great partners.

Every dairy farmer requires access to the world’s top genetics. The industry faces rapid change and access to the latest trends and genetics advancements are paramount. At Dúnmasc Genetics our core belief is that the cow comes first. Breeding the correct production and physical traits is vital to profitability. We believe that a balanced cow has an equal weighting between indexes, production and physical features. With this in mind, we are pleased to present our 2022 Spring catalogue.
